I'm fine with the holiday/voting day idea.
I'm not fine with people who have no skin in the game deciding tax rates and where the money goes
We all have skin in the game. We all live in this country. Tax rates are voted on? That stuff is decided by politicians. Yes, they are voted on, but voters often vote for politicians based on a single issue like those that wanted Roe v Wade overturned

Bull F'n Shyte.
There are those who never pay in and there are millions here Illegally.
You vote to elect people who believe as you do. Those without skin vote for politicians who continue to give them more and more handouts

FoodStamps/EBT is tax free.
And the things they do pay taxes on STILL do not make them Net Gains after it's all said and done. They're Net Losses

They still buy stuff they have to pay taxes on. They work their jobs. They clean floors or cook burgers or whatever jobs they work that aren't paying them enough to feed their kids. But you go ahead & sneer at those renters. We didn't used to demean & dismiss people doing an honest day's work.

What part of the math doesn't add up for you? Too many takers crumbles the entire system.
How many are even employed?
And isn't having enough money to afford them part of the planning process BEFORE you have kids? Or do all these parents fall on hard times 'thru no fault of their own'? Or do massive increases in Inflation and the cost of living screw them over. (Let's Go Brandon)
I am sneering at such poor planners. Generational wealth. Look into it. After 30 years of renting instead of a mortgage........what do most have? Rent due
We didn't used to demand other people pay for our entire lives and lifestyles.

Nobody works except Republicans? Sorry I can't afford to buy a home. Sneer at life happens. Sorry, another Christian thing is the whole "Be fruitful & multiply". A coworker kept bugging me about when was I going to have a kid "If you wait until you can afford it, you'll never have kids"

We both know that welfare lifers are on both sides of the aisle.
Probably not in your chosen location.
So, nobody but Christian hump and reproduce? I've heard that line, too. Didn't compute for me as growing up 'without' made more of an impression on me than it did one of my younger sisters.

People bitch about life/work balance. Work wants to consume all.

Now let's see how fast he wants to total up gas taxes, sales taxes, property taxes etc.....
Thank goodness he has the wife to cover his shortfall.
Too bad the rest of working class America can't have their shortfall covered by their bosses....

How did you know I've got a poster of him on my wall?
Because it leads to MORE Govt..........and in theory, more Revenue for Govt, though I see it as a Net Loss at this rate
No, businesses need cogs. Govt needs peons/slaves to vote for ever more Govt

It's his own idiotic fault.
But WHY is she voting in Jersey if she lives in New York? Did she also vote in NY?

It has to be a strange position to be in..........to raise your children in the way you feel best for them...........only to have them buy into a different belief system.

This is what I keep telling you. The job of a parent is to produce a useful cog for society. Children aren't flowers that stay in your garden. They are more like dandelion seeds floating off in the wind to plant themselves somewhere else to become their own plant. But humans are possessive. They expect their "possessions" to stay, only children arent possessions. They are separate people. People with their own minds & thoughts. I think it's fascinating watching them become people. Frustrating, maybe. Probably They are not extentions of their parents. Do you see yourself as an extension of your parents? Or are you what your experiences growing up made you? So why do people think their kids should be mini versions of them when they are very Probably not mini versions of their parents? That whole love something, set it free.

Not sure how that entire first part excuses away shitty behavior by young adults? What's so possessive about requiring them to refrain from crime and abusive behavior?
An extension? hmmm, I'd say I am a direct Reaction to my parental examples. I am more of what my experiences taught me though, cuz they sure weren't providing a lot of good lessons or teachings to pass along.
I think young people should be 'mini-versions' of aspiring and productive people. They can do whatever they so long as they're young and childless, too. Free as the wind to try all sorts of things.
I think you're completely dismissing the Dad role of Guidance. Moms tend to love no matter what, Dads tend to expect improvement and growth ....or else. It's an olde school sexist trope, sure, but it holds true, I think. If Dad ain't around to provide it, Mom's extremely tough job just got tougher, too
