Workers at a polling station in West Bend called police, who arrested a 38-year-old man armed with a knife.

A man armed with a knife was arrested after he showed up at a Wisconsin polling station and demanded election workers shut down the vote, local police said on Tuesday.

Staff at the West Bend Community Memorial Library called police at around 12:35 p.m. local time saying an armed man had shown up and ordered staff to "stop the voting," the city of West Bend's police department said in a statement.

Police said cops took a 38-year-old man into custody, and that voting was paused for 30 minutes while law enforcement officials investigated the location. No one was hurt and there isn't any other threat against the polling place, police added.

The library is a polling location for West Bend, a city of over 30,000 people north of Milwaukee in the southeast part of the state.

"All library staff, election officials, and citizens are safe and the polling site is re-opened," West Bend police said, adding that they "would like to thank the library staff for taking quick action and voters who waited patiently to vote."

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel cited a poll worker at the site as saying that voters and children took shelter in a closed-door voting room after the incident unfolded.

Wisconsin's Elections Commission did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment on the incident.

Leading up to the 2022 midterm elections, officials have voiced their concerns over the possibility of violence and other disruptions unfolding.

Several Mississippi state websites were intermittently inaccessible Tuesday afternoon after a Russian hacker group named the state as a target to knock offline.

The vast majority of election equipment isn’t connected to the internet, and it’s practically impossible to change a vote or keep Americans from voting through a cyberattack. But state websites like that of the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office are crucial sources for residents looking for how and where to vote.

A Russian-speaking hacker group that specializes in distributed denial of service attacks — a basic cyberattack that simply floods a website with traffic, keeping it from loading — posted a call on its Telegram channel around 1 p.m. ET for its supporters to attack a particular web address that is part of the Mississippi secretary of state website.

Elizabeth Jonson, a spokesperson for the Mississippi secretary of state’s office, told NBC News that the attacks started a little after 1 p.m. ET, but that her office had yet to determine a cause.

A senior CISA official confirmed later Tuesday that the websites were the target of a DDoS attack.

I didn't say that........ I asked if there were plenty of fisticuff settlements BEFORE the passage of the new gun laws. That doesn't seem to be the trend in this country.

More likely to happen an argument breaks out........some leave, only to return later with their guns.........or just do a drive-by

Fulton County fires 2 poll workers after concerns over social media posts

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Fulton County election officials fired a poll worker and her son after they expressed concerns with social media posts.

The two workers were fired about 15 minutes before the polls opened at the Ocee Library. Fulton County Elections confirmed the workers are a mother and son.

The county’s elections interim director Nadine Williams said another worker overheard a comment made by the woman at a poll worker event. The peer also found social media posts made by the worker and reported them to the county.

“We sent that information to Secretary of State’s Office to ask if it should be under investigation for concern,” Williams said. “They also looked at the social media posts and said they agreed with the concern and that it’s our decision to remove.”

The county removed the workers until they can complete the investigation.

Williams said she could not comment on the nature of the posts, but the county “wanted to make sure the election was secure.”

“There were some things in there that were not allowed. You cannot take videos or photos in the election, so that’s what brought it to our attention,” Williams said.

A spokeswoman confirmed that officers responded to the library after two poll workers refused to leave. When officers arrived, the two people left without any incidents. Police said there was no arrests or incident reports filed.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden talked to Laura Kronen, who said she and her 17-year-old son were the workers who were fired.

Kronen defended her posts on social media and admitted that she participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, which she denied was an insurrection.

I think last year there was a Republican lawmaker who described it as "the quality of votes". *internet search* Ah, it was John Kavanaugh of Arizona. I'm fully in support of making Election Day a federal holiday though.

Will Cain led his Fox & Friends colleagues in a conversation about whether mail-in ballots and early voting are truly good for America, or if they cheapen civic engagement.

Cain delivered his remarks on Fox & Friends Sunday — as he, Pete Hegseth and Rachel Campos-Duffy discussed the news that Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (D) defeated Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, which means Democrats will retain control of the U.S. Senate. During his analysis, Cain said “most of the world doesn’t conduct elections the way that we have now embraced.”

After a brief aside from Hegseth that “they’re not foolish enough to,” Cain dove into his point that “this is a Covid movement that has now been retained. We’re still voting still not on Election Day, and not in person. We’re moving to massive mail-in balloting as, really, the bulk of our election.”

Cain anticipated that critics would retort by accusing him of not wanting as many Americans as possible to vote. He responded to that by asking if America is inevitably heading to voting through the Internet.

"...I’m just here to tell you that more doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. Everybody voting, you think everybody is invested, is everyone familiar with the candidates? Do they know the issues? I think that there is a minimal effort in going to the poll, that reflects a certain level of investment, and skin in the game. I think we’re going to ask ourselves at some point in the not-too-distant future: What is the threshold of investment? Is it this, a click? Because we’re headed there."

Campos-Duffy followed up by raising objections to early voting, arguing that people cast their ballots in the 2020 election while the Hunter Biden laptop controversy was being suppressed by social media. She also proposed that Election Day should be a “national holiday” that would give people time to submit their paper ballots on Election Day and the days before that.

"...Let’s let people…vote the whole weekend and then up to Election Day, the weekend before. Let’s use paper ballots. Let’s have I.D. cards like they do in Mexico and every other country takes their election seriously. Let’s have paper ballots so we can track it, and feel confident about it, and feel confident in our democracy."

Hegseth expanded upon Cain’s point, explaining that “you’re not saying ‘I want less people to vote.’ That’s not the point. What you’re saying voting should not be as simple as ordering an Amazon package because there’s a lot more at stake with what you should be considering when you cast your ballot.”

"...You want to see a ‘threat to democracy?’ It’s what we’re watching in Arizona right now. As we don’t know whether people are cheating or not. But all I know is there are 265,000 ballots that still haven’t been counted, and it’s Sunday. Is it gonna cut for Kari Lake? Will it not? Katie Hobbs is in charge of the elections there. Hopefully it’s all aboveboard. Charlie Kirk says so far it looks like it is. He pays very close attention. Looks like the next few dumps of ballots will be good for Kari Lake. That will be the test…Simple is better, it means faith in the system."
