Tesla gets downgraded on Wall Street over Elon Musk’s Twitter antics, banning of journalists

Elon Musk’s management of Twitter, including the banning of multiple journalists, has “severely damaged” market sentiment around Tesla, and risks sparking a backlash from advertisers and consumers, a Wall Street analyst warned on Monday.

Oppenheimer & Co. downgraded its rating on Tesla, where Musk is the CEO, solely because of risks posed by the billionaire’s ownership and management of Twitter.

“We believe Mr. Musk is increasingly isolated as the steward of Twitter’s finances with his user management on the platform. We see potential for a negative feedback loop from departure of Twitter advertisers and users,” Oppenheimer analyst Colin Rusch wrote to clients.

An exodus of advertisers will only further erode Twitter’s finances and force Musk to unload even more Tesla stock to cover the cash hole, the firm wrote.

Oppenheimer specifically cited Twitter’s decision last week to ban several journalists, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, as a catalyst for the downgrade.

As CNN previously reported, Musk offered several journalists he banned from Twitter the option to return if they deleted the tweets he falsely claimed shared his “exact-real-time location.”

Rusch, the Oppenheimer analyst, said the “inconsistent standards application” for Twitter users has helped create a “broad public backlash” against Musk that will in turn hurt Tesla.

Living at AOL
For Simons, "crazy stuff" meant moving to Silicon Valley and trying to get his fledgling company off the ground. But his initial idea wasn't quite working. Imagine K12 was a great place to get mentorship and learn how startups are built, but he and his ClassConnect partners had been given just $20,000 by the incubator, and after the four-month program ended, the money was gone. When his friends left to go back to college, Simons needed another solution.

Imagine K12 is hosted at AOL's Palo Alto campus, and everyone involved gets a building badge. As it turns out, Simons told CNET, the badges kept working, even after the program ended, giving him ongoing access, along with a face that had become familiar to others who worked there.

"I couldn't afford to live anywhere," Simons recalled. "I started living out of AOL's headquarters."

So he had a start up amount they blew through so had he not been able to live at AOL, he would have been homeless. 

AOL also gave him access to computers to complete his work on, food to survive...so he was able to get off the ground with a "loan" of room, board, & work materials.

Yes, stealing from stores and driving up the $Cost for everyone else is bad........even worse, imo, than stealing room & board from a company that never even noticed it. Didn't cost them more to provide it. They're still both crimes, though.

He chose a crime in the short term and THEN moved up in the world. That's the thing about common criminality.......where's it gonna get you in the long term? but prison? Nothing shockes me much anymore, but I still am slightly surprised when I see simple crimes by people over the age of 30-35 though.

Bystander tackles gunman after 7-Eleven robbery

SAN DIEGO — Three thieves, one armed, stole several cases of beer from a 7-Eleven Wednesday night, said the San Diego Police Department.

The robbers walked into the convenience store, located at 3105 Fairmount Ave. in the Swan Canyon neighborhood, shortly before 9:20 p.m. and grabbed the alcoholic beverages before attempting to leave without paying, according to police.

Authorities say an employee tried to stop them, prompting one of the thieves to pull out a gun and point it at the employee who then ran away. Once outside, a bystander tackled one of the robbers. At that time, the robber fired two shots at the bystander but missed, police said.

Police look for suspect in armed robbery
The thieves then got into an unknown vehicle with the beer. They were last seen heading eastbound on Thorn Ave. Their descriptions, according to authorities, are as follows:

A Hispanic man in his 20s with a thin build, wearing a black hat, black jacket, black pants, white shoes and a maroon hoodie under the jacket; a Hispanic man in his 20s with a thin build, wearing a black hat, black jacket, black pants and black shoes; and a Hispanic man in his 20s with a medium to heavy build, wearing a light blue and grey hat, black jacket, black pants and black shoes.

Before they passed that stupid initiative it was use a gun, go to jail. 

That initiative to reduce certain felonies to misdemeanors was put on the ballot by the Trial Lawyers Association.

So stealing beer less than $1000 is a misdemeanor.  
Don't know if the gun makes it different.
I didn't vote for it.
They ran ads playing up how unfair it was for pot dealers to got to prison.

They don't get as much business if the trouble 10% are constantly incarcerated.......gotta keep them out and committing more crimes.

Check out my thread on the I Am A Killer series on Netflix. They're trying to drum up sympathy for out and out murderers. Rough childhood? Poverty? Not enough hugs? It's all mitigating. In fact, it sounds like the more criminal history you have, the better your defense these days.

Kids dying from stuff vaccines could have prevented or getting crippled up by diseases.
Teen years WWII & postwar.
They married in the 50s. Mom worked at a tuna cannery here in San Diego while dad was in the Navy for the Korean War.

That's probably a good guess. We went without quite a few times growing up........but that was more personal finance irresponsibility than remnants of the Depression. Though my grandparents were of that same era and burdened themselves with 16 kids.

Greater velocity? Hmmmm, too bad jpat aint here to verify that one. Let's Google...........oh, as I suspected it's not even close. Coming out of the gun it's a much higher speed. Falling to Earth is a fraction of that.

San Diego's minimum wage is set to increase to $16.30 an hour.

SAN DIEGO — San Diegans will begin seeing more money in their paychecks effective Sunday, as the city's minimum wage increases from $15 to $16.30 an hour.

The change applies to all employees who perform at least two hours of work in one or more calendar weeks of the year within the geographic boundaries of San Diego. The change is in accordance with the city's Earned Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Ordinance, approved in 2016.


"With the cost of living rising, this increase could not come at a more needed time for workers and working families," Mayor Todd Gloria said. "This increase means a better ability to make ends meet, put food on the table and spend in our local businesses."

The minimum wage had increased yearly since 2016 when it was $10.50 and subsequently a dollar a year since 2019 which is tied to the previous year's cost of living increase.

The Earned Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Ordinance applies to all industries and businesses without exception for several employees. Tips and gratuities do not count toward the payment of minimum wage.

Employers are required to post updated minimum wage notices in a conspicuous place at any workplace or job site in the city. The notices are available on the city's Minimum Wage Program webpage.

According to the ordinance, employees will continue to earn sick leave, either by the accrual or the "front load" method, in which employers can provide a lump sum of at least 24 hours or three days of sick leave upfront at the beginning of each 12 months.

Employees may use earned sick leave for all of the reasons described in the ordinance, which include, but are not limited to, time for their medical care or the medical care of a family member. Employers may limit an employee's use of earned sick leave to 40 hours within a benefit year.
