It's not devious on the part of China.... except for the slave labor, of course.
But Americans sure do seem to be against bringing manufacturing back.........the people they elect even more so

Because the politicians are getting donations from the businesses that are outsourcing the jobs.

And how does that alter the views of the people?.......and not cause them to vote the sell outs out? Because they actually feel they're above that sorta work, perhaps?

The voters aren't noticing that. They're getting their cheap Walmart crap & iPhone, etc. They care about abortion & gays & all that other stuff.

Then the voters are the problem
Cheap Walmart crap........and REALLY expensive iPhone stuff? So it appears people do find the money for the things they really want
That's why our politicians continue to keep those 2 things in the news.........as opposed to much more salient stuff.

That turned out to be a pretty good investment for her. Though, $2 Million doesn't go as far as it used to just a year or two ago.
Believe it or not, according to one of the major online Real Estate sites, our home we purchased at a steal in 2016...... has almost double that amount now.

Maybe handle things better privately?
‘Miss Linda’ officially buys home after Powderhorn community rallies to overturn her eviction Brittney Ermon KSTP Updated: June 1, 2022 - 7:39 PM Published: June 1, 2022 - 6:32 PM
A beloved member of Minneapolis’ Powderhorn community is officially staying in her home after being faced with the threat of eviction in February.
The Southside community pitched in to make sure Linda Taylor could be their neighbor for good.
If you live in the Powderhorn neighborhood, it’s a good chance you’ve crossed paths with Linda Taylor.
“We have a lot of good people in the neighborhood, but she’s the brightest star of it. Everyone likes her,” Steven Smith, Powderhorn neighbor, said. “I’m so happy things worked out for her.”
Southsiders call her “Miss Linda.” She’s known for her green thumb and kind spirit. Linda Taylor sits at a table in her south Minneapolis home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Taylor was threatened with eviction in February, but following an outpouring of support from her neighbors, she was able to buy the home she's lived in for 19 years. (KSTP)
Taylor planted her seed in the community as a volunteer decades ago by helping the homeless or anyone who needs it.
She explained happiness starts at home.
“This house is very much a part of me,” Taylor said.
Earlier this year, staying in her home was not an option. After 19 years of renting the home, she was faced with the threat of eviction from a landlord.
The news sent shockwaves throughout the community.
“I just talked to one person and that one person said, ‘There’s no way, Miss Linda, you are going to move,’” Taylor said.
After months of demonstrations, the 70-year-old was given the option to buy her home before the end of June.

Donations started pouring in, bringing Miss Linda to a moment she’ll never forget.
“Yesterday I went and did the closing for the house,” Taylor said.
She said $275,000 in donations from the community made it happen.
“It makes me feel so good,” Taylor said. “Everything that I have given, it’s coming back to me and I want to continue to give. I love this neighborhood.”
Taylor said this marks the start of a new chapter and another opportunity to stick around and give back.
“When we are sticking together, we are going to be successful in our neighborhood. We’re going to take care of each other,” Taylor said.
The neighborhood is throwing a block party 11 a.m. June 5 at 1010 36th St. E. in Minneapolis to celebrate Miss Linda and the community’s accomplishment.

So she was given a home. You are fine with this? After all your complaints about programs to give homeless people homes to end their homelessness. They helped one particular person. How about the other thousands who end up homeless?

Why should I care what other people voluntarily do with their money? I prefer that kind of charity, in fact.
My only fear would be someone who never owned a home before not realizing all it takes to keep it maintained and deal with the ever rising tax obligations.
Many of the homeless are not going to take care of those homes....... may even do damage and ruin it for others. Surely you've seen this behavior with your previous clients?
That's the thing about charity, merh. There's NEVER going to be enough to go around. That's part of the reason the Govt should stay out of it since it doesn't even bother with a Budget anymore.
Just GIVING things to people very often just leads to a sense of entitlement and the expectation that there'll always be more to be handed out to them. So why bother taking care of any of it?

See how some pricks are just never happy?
Imagine his outrage in discovering they use lumber to build that housing, too.

Don't people want pleasant for their home spaces?
I see all the time photos and ads for wonderful destination places.......it's almost always bereft of people in the photos

Yep, they built on a swampy area........dug a big pond in the middle and used the soil for fill. IIRC, studio apts starting at about $1150/month.
