Seems like a good way to start solving this issue would be to eliminate the presence of all non-US citizens for starters.
What a truly uninformed comment that is. Do you not understand that besides a housing shortage, there is also a labor shortage? We can't get enough people to work for us as it is. I know places that have had to cut back their hours because they can't find enough employees. I know people who are burnt out due to working too many overtime hours.

Wait.........THAT's the argument I've made about the millions of Illegals in the US being removed. And been scoffed at for it.
What you're ignoring is that developers are not in the business of losing money...... y'know, like Govt does.
They wouldn't normally bother building things without a known customer base ready and willing to make them their profits.
Either way, where's that homeless shelter getting built?

Where you located, Adolf?
Over here our dopey president is claiming the Unemployment numbers are at historic lows, but like you've said.....EVERYONE is looking for employees. So somebody is flat out LYING.
Also, don't assume that I am totally against Guest Worker visas for truly needed workers........but while we've got millions of able bodied citizens just living off of welfare in some form or another? I don't endorse bringing in foreigners.

Titled "A wild NIMBY appears" Apparently popping up all over town
Seems like it all depends on whose lawn you're standing on.
I really would have thought there'd be a somewhat universal agreement in place across the country about the Percentage of rental properties any given area might deem appropriate before it becomes overly saturated.
As the renters outnumber the owners, all I see is more and more complaining of the wealth gap going forward.

I am currently working up in the mountains of western Canada, but am originally from Alsace in France about 20 miles from the German border.

It's not the construction company's problem. Not really the developers. The various cities have passed their restrictions so the developers can't develop. This emergency creates an override so they can build more units so they can make more money. Those units being empty or not isn't their problem. It's the problem of the management company trying to fill the units. There is so much roadwork this year. Huge demand. Renters are getting kicked out of their apartments so the units can be remodeled so the rent can be increased because of this demand which is apparently illusionary. So you can't see?

You are so superior about it, aren't you? Living in a place where houses don't cost an arm & a leg. One can just hear the snooty derision in the tone when you say renters

Can't see what?
The latest tactic by landlords/owners to make money? Improving apartments and jacking the rent? It's THEIR property. Why would I have an issue with that?
Another factor in that may be trying to recoup some of the losses they faced over the covid 'No Rent Collection' policies. You do realize that once again, the responsible are going to get stuck paying for the irresponsible? This is no different than thievery in a given area. Prices go up to make up for the Losses, so everyone gets to pay more because of the actions of a few.

What's so superior about realizing being an owner usually puts you in a better spot than a renter? Doesn't that just make sense?
The price of homes in this area went up a good 20% like most other places, why do you think it didn't?
I will admit to being a little snooty about it. I just don't understand how any renters didn't realize their rent might not stay fixed year after year, decade after decade? And it's still due decades later.

Low unemployment numbers means that everyone has a job. So this is where the labor shortage is. No one is lying, it's just that you lack the ability to put 2+2 together in order to understand.

No, it only means that most people have a job, otherwise there wouldn't even be low unemployment if everyone had a job. Also, it doesn't take into account those who may have removed themselves from the job market, for whatever reason, willingly or unwillingly. Or those who are underemployed... they have a job, but still can't make enough to afford the cost of living. 2. That might certainly be the main reason, but it's unlikely to be the only reason. 3. Life should be straightforward and easy to understand... Unfortunately, it seldom is.

You are either unaware or purposefully ignoring the 'new math' that they employ while counting Unemployment these days. You see, they stopped counting people who haven't even been looking for a job for more than 4 weeks.
2+2 is very easy to understand.
Just as the unemployment figure should be a simple formula of ALL the able bodied people eligible to work vs who actually has a job from that larger group. No need for semantics or cup games.

It's clearly a goofy way to do it........and they did it so they could hide more truths from people
