Where were we talking about your dog? The thread with Toy? Apparently the Greeks & Roman's felt about their dogs almost as seriously as Egyptians & their cats
awww, how sweet.
Our newest Yellow Lab seems to finally be housebroken........now if we could just get her to stop surfing the kitchen counters and our desks for things to chew on.

I thought you were going to say she was using them for that butt wipe thing they do. Teething is rough. Kittens are impossible at that stage

Of course they have a maid.......and they're paying that maid a 'Living Wage' with bennies, too.
How're you doing on your over $600/mo donations?
whachu think of these numbers? Does this seem reasonable and sustainable to you?
$52/mo? $47/mo? $57/mo with 3 kids??
And last but absolutely least...... $0/mo? What a country!

It is amazing for all the talk of job creators being so important that we did seem to collapse over the lowly paid, highly disrespected minimum wage jobs
Simple math.
I went thru the drive-thru of a national chain recently (Rhymes with Parties) and was told it'd be a 10-15 minute wait because they're shorthanded and making one order at a time.
Well, if all they're able to make is 6-10 orders an hour, then there is no way in hell the numbers will add up to keeping the doors open for much longer.
Then they can sit at home (while they still have one) and wonder why no employers are calling offering higher wages.

Sorry. I usually check to make sure the picture comes through This one was This is what my comment applied to. Now put it to your comment. You continue to damn the workers. Yet has our country not been brought to the edge over the lack of cheap, disposable labor? Rhymes with Parties? That's the joint? Or you didn't want to name.it? Parties? Hardee's? We don't have that one. Arby's? Carl's Jr?

The point is decent pay. No, not $350K annual, but more than one requiring the person work 3 of them to survive. $15/hr or so.

1. Except it hasn't totally collapsed. Amazon and Walmart are both breaking records.
2. Reduce? I'm not seeing a reduction in the amount of garbage and pollution people create........unless they're referring to the drop in traffic way back when.
3. Which is it? Useless stuff for indebted people? or essential workers? Can it be both?
I'm not damning actual workers. Plenty have continued to show up during this entire 'lockdown'. You know who I'm referring to. The Net Losses
Cheap disposable labor? Isn't that what all the Illegals are here for?
Carl's Jr in this area is called Hardees. I go there on Thursdays for their Thickburger Thursday combo $6.49 plus a FREE sandwich with coupon

You've posted comparisons by Cost of Living that already shows it'd take closer to $40/hr to 'survive' in places like California......no?
Make it $100/hr and see where Costs end up.

Look at you rage! You know it is supplemented by Uncle Sam. Simulating the workplace where the employer pays a portion of the premium so that $57/mo is comparison to an employer plan. At my last employer the premium was $0/month since I had no dependents. It was $100/mo to include 1 dependent as I recall. I am on Cobra which is me paying the premium my employer paid so I can keep the same $25/visit Kaiser plan I had. I pay the premium plus 2% Look. Enacted by Ronnie. So I have federal Cobra for 18 months & CalCobra for another 18 months which will leave me like 2 months I need to figure out before being eligible for Medicare.

Who is Uncle Sam, merh? It ain't the Govt.
Ronnie * the Repubs are just as in bed with big business as the Dems. Check out the profits of hospitals and big pharma these days.
My Father in Law was laid off a few years before retirement age. He got the pleasure of paying something like $1,200-1,600/mos for Cobra until Medicare/SS kicked in for him.
And as I understand it, even Medicare/Medicaid/SS doesn't cover everything.......so you're still at the whim of constant price increases as you get older.
I wish you luck

... And how do employer plans work? Based on the size of the company, the plan offers the rate because the employer is promising the plan X number of clients. My employer had 20,000 employees so the 2 companies offering medical plans could expect around 10,000 enrollees. This would be figured into the price. Buy in bulk, right? So yeah, my employer was able to arrange for Kaiser plan at $600/month. Medicare is based on your income bracket 2 yrs before eligibility so age 63 they will decide how much they will charge for hospitalization. However, one has to purchase the medigap stuff like drug coverage. Because I have Kaiser I am maintaining my eligibility for that plan & apparently I will be able to keep this policy since I am maintaining coverage. My sister was unable to enroll in Kaiser because they require one had coverage in the last 2 yrs prior to enrollment. She has Sharp, a major plan in the area, but it is more expensive. When my husband worked for UCSD it was still cheaper to get Kaiser than to enroll in UCSD's medical plan. The way it works is the employer pays most or all of the premium for the employee only cost of the cheaper plan which is usually Kaiser. I had co-workers who would never go with Kaiser so they paid more to go with the higher plans usually $100-$200 more per month. Soooooo long story how your father-in-law paid $1,200/month on Cobra. Employer premium+2% Mine goes up to $640 in January. But the pension I am counting to cover it went from $637/mo after tax to $649 in August so I'm good.
