Capitalism ignores peoples' needs, results in wealth inequality and does not promote equal opportunity. It encourages mass consumption, is unsustainable and provides an incentive for business owners to harm the environment for monetary gain. It's also ineffective and unstable. still waiting for an example...got anything?

Encourages? or just serves it well? Same for the environment. You seeing many people these days that aren't having an impact on their environments? Ya hippie!
It's been more effective at bringing about wealth and a higher standard of living than anything else. I'm reminded of that line from Churchill - “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

I'm not a huge fan of capitalism, but neither am I entirely against it. I think the best idea is to integrate the best features of multiple ideological systems into one system, specially crafted to meet the unique needs of the people it's designed to serve.

Exactly. A voluntary buffet from which a person can pick and choose what works for them.

Something that can even be adjusted on a state by state basis, provided the overall system can still interact with its various components as and when necessary.

sheesh......... THAT almost sounds like the intention behind having 50 separate States that could tinker and experiment to come up with the best approaches for their own smaller groups of people?
Whereas rule from on high by a far off distant ruling class, Federal Govt, should be avoided at all cost? What a concept. Wonder if anyone's tried that in the past or suggested it as a sound approach?

Yeah, but that sort of approach has yet to be perfected... Besides, I'm not suggesting an individual approach to all aspects of statehood.
