1. I don't recall seeing that in the Constitution. However, we can see that many states have found better ways of doing things while other states refuse to implement them. Nobody seems to like purple.
2. Kinda thought so
3. So... jailing people for not saying, "hello" because that's what you would want to be treated?
4. They always have been the greatest threat. Most of the illegals in the US came here with valid visas then overstayed
5. What you call "tough love," others might call, "child abuse."
6. Let me point to the main word here: SECURE
1. The artist formerly known as Prince did
3. People are being fired and/or charged with hate crimes for not addressing people as they choose to 'identify'
4. Glaring example of the Govt not doing it's job and overlooking certain crimes.......and yet, we still have the most incarcerated?
5. To-may-to To-mah-to
6. The root word of SECURITY? As in, something people give up their rights in exchange for......and usually end up with neither?

6. I didn't feel like running through all scenarios, but yes. And once you have clean safe water, what other services are there to pay for?
3. That's why some areas impose caps on rental increases
6. I even think electricity and internet might qualify as basic requirements. But Pugblic Service has already forced everyone to contribute to them as the Middle Men 9per Govt mandate?)
3. Do those caps apply to property taxes and regulatory costs, as well? Have you seen any evidence that rent control helps any area keep rental prices in check? (outside of the lucky few, of course) So it'd need to be rent control for ALL in order to be effective? Cabrini-Green for everyone?
6. But what happens when the government simply decides which ISP is the one they want to pay for?
3. If a law isn't working as intended, it's usually because the law was poorly conceived or poorly written.

3. Have you seen the law makers these days? Say what you will of lawyers of the past........but these people?
When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people.
This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free. — Cori Bush (@coribush) July 4, 2021

6. No, that's why I normally oppose govt control of so many things.

6. I was just playing nice and going along with Ant's and others' sentiment that so many things simply must be provided by the Govt.
I could go the complete opposite direction and argue that people really only need bread, water and basic shelter to survive. That should cover the basics, right?

You try only bread and water for a week or two and then ask me again

Is it your contention that anything more is absolutely required to sustain a human organism?
Sure, there's all sorts of things to add to the list of niceties.

Yes. Bread and water alone are insufficient for the nutritional needs of humans. Like I said. Give it a try.

Even bread fortified with all essential vitamins?
It's funny you say that, though........as obesity is such a problem, one prevailing theory is that we eat too much bread.

by the by...... I wouldn't want to try nor expect to enjoy life without electricity, internet, sugary snacks, and all sorts of things........but I'm not maintaining that they're necessities to live either.

I said "nutritional needs."

Don't try to change the conversation.

If you can afford to grow the foods required to extract the essential vitamins in order to fortify the bread, then you can afford to hand them out in the first place, can't you? Bread is a contributor to obesity because it adds unnecessary carbs to our already high-carb diets. It is not fattening in and of itself... depending on physical activity. There's a reason why "bread and water" was a punishment and why scurvy was a scourge.
Maybe you should try reading up on the subject.

Sheriff Arpaio used to hand out something called a Nutraloaf. IIRC
"Man can not live by bread alone." Is religion/faith a basic requirement, too?

I would........but the rickets keep me from walking to the local library
You'll probably insist I'm changing the conversation again......but grocery stores throw out a ton of fruits and vegetables in the US

4a. The government isn't overlooking them. The government has no mechanism for tracking people on visas in the first place. And that all comes down to "freedom" and trying to NOT be a police state.
4b. Yes, because the war on drugs is a failure and we keep trying to lock up (mostly black) people for smoking a bit of weed.

4a. Nonsense. The NSA alone tracks and spies and keeps tabs on every American. You figure between them, the FBI and countless other agencies it's tough a task to track newly arrived people?
4b. As opposed to locking up more serious criminals? Those that actually steal and assault others? You figure the demographics will change much?
