Let's face it, the only reason for people to demand being referenced by specialized 3rd Person pronouns is arrogance.
It's a 3rd Person pronoun: the one we use to talk about someone to someone else. What makes you think that you are important enough to even think about when you are out of my sight except to make fun of your makeup and silly pronouns?
Your achievements?
If you had any real ones, you wouldn't have to dress up like a clown and demand that I learn Disney songs to keep up with your pronouns.

Attention-seeking narcissism, pretty much. And I find it amusing that Disney is going so pro LGBTQ, Walt was infamous for his dislike of gays. I had a college colleague that worked there for many years, long after Walt was gone, but the prejudice still existed. But that colleague quit - took early retirement - when the computer generation took over, and that was a while ago. One of my last free-lance jobs was with Disney, and that was in the late 90s. Computers changed everything. No telling what the company is like, now. When I worked at Hallmark, there were plenty of LGBTQ working there, but none of them were 'out' about it; they were just there doing their jobs. And Hallmark never made it an issue. One of their best illustrators, someone I had the privilege to work with, was a ruggedly handsome man, had actually been a Marlborough man in a commercial, and he was gay. I never knew it until another friend clued me in. I've lost touch with the gay community since then, none of them out here in the woods where I live, so I wonder what the overall community thinks of these new out and, in your face, people.  |

I don't like the current emphasis on the whole transgender issue, I don't think it should be a subject in grade school any more than I think the ten commandments should be in public schools. I hear ya. My wife is the techie here I just spend more time on the old interweb.
Youtube is fairly handy for finding interviews or helpful How To demonstrations

And freedom of personal choice on everything from "My body, my choice" to what you can do to protect yourself on your own property. It is a slippery slope, and the battle over it seems to be getting more intense. That is concerning. |

I see a lot of confusion on this thread regarding lesbians, gays and bisexuals versus transgender. We gay folk are not looking for special pronouns. We are happy maybe even too happy with our birth sex (if you get my drift). Call me "he" 'cause that's what I am and I know of no gay or lesbian who wants to be referred to in the plural.

You are what you are. You are your body. You are not separate from your body. "Born in the wrong body" is the biggest bit of tripe ever invented.
Now, I wish any transperson all the best. And if we can see it as just a preference for a different gender role, that's fine. That's a healthy choice.
But if gender is a social construct as they claim, why in hell would you mutilate your body to conform to a social construct?

Agreed, intersexed people are not the issue. But most transgender are not born intersexed.
The problem is people with healthy genitals having them cut up and turned into nonworking replicas of something else to match some social construct of gender behavior.
Yes, adults can do what they want.
But should doctors be advising even adults against this? I thought the transgender position was always that a woman can have a penis? If so, why cut it off?
