John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president at noon on January 20, 1961. Kennedy focused on immediate and specific issues facing the administration and quickly voiced his impatience with pondering deeper meanings. Deputy National Security Advisor Walt Whitman Rostow once began a diatribe about the growth of communism, and Kennedy abruptly cut him off, asking, "What do you want me to do about that today?"

The Eisenhower administration had created a plan to overthrow Fidel Castro's regime in Cuba. Led by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), with help from the U.S. military, the plan was for an invasion of Cuba by a counter-revolutionary insurgency composed of U.S.-trained, anti-Castro Cuban exiles led by CIA paramilitary officers. The intention was to invade Cuba and instigate an uprising among the Cuban people, hoping to remove Castro from power. Kennedy approved the final invasion plan on April 4, 1961.

KISS founder Gene Simmons was once a contestant on Donald Trump’s network TV program The Celebrity Apprentice and was friendly with the former president long before he took office. Now, Simmons has come out to blast Trump’s presidency for normalizing racism and conspiracy theories.

In a new interview with SPIN, Simmons discussed the cause-and-effect of Trump’s behavior and policies. As is typical with Simmons, there were no minced words.

“I know the previous (US)president,” Simmons said. “I knew him before he entered politics. Look what that gentleman did to this country and the polarization — got all the cockroaches to rise to the top. Once upon a time, you were embarrassed to be publicly racist and out there with conspiracy theories. Now it’s all out in the open because he allowed it.”

Simmons went on to compare Trump the “entrepreneur” versus Trump the president.

“You have a different responsibility when you’re just a citizen or an entrepreneur,” Simmons said. “You don’t make policy. It doesn’t affect life and death. When you get into a position of power, it does affect lives.”

He added: “I don’t think he’s a Republican or a Democrat. He’s out for himself, any way you can get there. And in the last election, over 70 million people bought it hook, line and sinker.”

Simmons wasn’t overly complimentary of the current US president Joe Biden, either, suggesting he may not be fit for another term, if he should decide to run again.

“The current president (Joe Biden), I like the ethics and morality — not a charismatic guy, unfortunately,” Simmons stated. “The first word I keep hearing from people, even friends is ‘feeble.’ I don’t think he should run next time. So then who’s around? There are no stars and invariably people vote for stars, not even what they believe in. The cult of personality. Americans are star obsessed: ‘Kylie’s got a new lip gloss? F**k!'”


In the past, Simmons defended Trump’s tendency for incendiary remarks, comparing it to his own affinity for off-color statements. However, Simmons also said he didn’t “necessarily” vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and declined an invitation for KISS to play Trump’s inauguration in 2017.

I've already given you that Trump failed in the area of Budget/Spending. His big mistake was even trusting the GOP to be conservatives.

Gene was friendly with Trump. NOW he's not? And I think he forgot to mention the racist president immediately before Trump. THAT guy got the ball really rolling. Which is a big part of the reason Trump was elected in the first place.

What 70 million bought..........was the actual change in direction for the US. And it was working. Unlike what we now have. Back to the Establishment and all of their expert ways.

Ethics? Joe? The Big Guy that gets his cut from his junkie kid? THAT ethical Joe? 

Gene is a great example of a fella that'd do anything for a buck. Can you recall ANY other musician that has marketed their band harder than him and all of his KISS gear?

Kelly Carlin, daughter of the late comedian George Carlin, is mystified that Donald Trump followers and right-wingers have tried to claim her dad as one of their own.

“Before he died in 2008, and Hillary was running, my dad was like, ‘You know, it’ll be good. Hillary [Clinton] will get in there and she’ll get some people some jobs.’ I mean, of course he leaned that direction. My dad was a lifelong New Yorker and lifelong New Yorkers hate Donald Trump,” she says with a laugh on this bonus episode of The New Abnormal podcast. “It just always shocks me when these Trumpers wanna claim him.”

Kelly came on the show with comedian and director Judd Apatow to talk to hosts Andy Levy and Molly Jong-Fast about her dad and about Apatow’s upcoming George Carlin documentary on HBO, which Apatow says “terrified” him at first.

“I listened to his albums when I was a little kid, and I feel like he broke things down in such a specific way and looked at the world as such a critical thinker that it installs the software in your mind of how to write jokes and how to think and how to look at things. And I really didn't wanna screw up a documentary about his life,” says Apatow.

Andy has seen the documentary and assures him he didn’t.

“It just felt honest. It just felt like this was George Carlin,” he says.

“I always think that what he was trying to tell people was that financial interests want the country to be fighting. That’s how they steal all the money,” adds Apatow. “And I also think that he thought that the system was rigged, that dark money controls who is elected. All of these issues that are prominent these days, whether it’s abortion, gay rights, or trans rights, it’s Republicans trying to get people worked up so they can stay in power. When Elon Musk says ‘I'm a Republican’ he’s not worried about people having abortions, he’s not anti-gay rights, he only cares about his money.”

“We called [his comedy] dark or angry, but he clearly saw where the ship was sailing,” Kelly says of her dad’s political commentary. That’s where her belief that he would not side with Republicans comes in.

“The far right would like to say that they're the minority now, but [George Carlin] would roll his eyes, because we know where all the wealth and the power is. That was the core, the deepest, deepest core of my father’s moral center from day one of his life,” adds Kelly.

Where's the pissed off part of my post?    I just like pointing out people and their inconsistencies.

He was racist against whites.........even the white grandparents that provided him with a better than average life.

He's an entertaining speaker in person. Why be so grumpy about it? I've never been to one, but I did give one rally on TV about 40 minutes. It was like a raucous rock concert. My sister who wasn't even into politics really went to one in GB.....and she said it was great and he was very funny in person.

Consumate? You saying that in a positive way? I think Gene has been very successful.......but he's also been quite the character over the years, too. Which of the two guys would you rather associate with, Headbanger?

I more voted AGAINST Hillary than had any confidence in Trump, to be honest. It really was almost a last minute (hold my nose) and vote situation. But then he pleasantly surprised me and millions of others by actually delivering on a lot of things that previous GOPers said they just couldn't get done.

I don't need Govt to make a $Buck........but it'd be nice if it didn't treat OUR money like it was free. And there are tons of ways for the Govt to do a much better job of that.......but they choose not to because they do not care about you, or your child and especially future generations that'll end up paying for all this crap. How's that Inflation doing in your hood these days? You feeling that burn yet?

Fox News host Mark Levin sought to divert blame for the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot from Donald Trump and his supporters to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, baselessly suggesting she was behind security failings during the riot.

Levin, in an interview with host Sean Hannity on the eve of the January 6 committee's first public hearing, sought to portray the bipartisan investigation as partisan and flawed.

The speaker "will never be questioned because Liz Cheney has given her cover," said Levin, referring to GOP committee member Rep. Liz Cheney, a source of intense criticism for Trump allies seeking to discredit the panel.

"Nancy, what did you do on Jan. 6? Can we see your texts, your emails, your documents? Can we talk to your staff under penalty of perjury?" Levin asked.

"And if you don't respond, maybe we should put you in handcuffs and leg irons and throw you in jail with your husband," Levin said.

He was referring to the arrest this week of former Trump advisor Peter Navarro, who complained of his treatment by authorities when detained for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the committee.



Some Trump allies are stepping up attempts to downplay the riot, and falsely lay blame for the violence on plots by law-enforcement agencies or Democrats.

The narratives center on the false claim that Pelosi, as speaker, controls security in the Capitol.

Key security decisions are in fact made by Capitol Police in concert with several Congressional officials.

One of these is the House Sergeant-at-arms, who reports to Pelosi.

There is also a Senate sergeant-at-arms, who reports to the Senate Majority Leader, the Republican Mitch McConnell.

Both have input into Capitol security, but neither has a total say and nor do Pelosi or McConnell, whose roles are overwhelmingly related to to political and procedural affairs in the Capitol.

PolitiFact rated the claim that Pelosi was responsible for security that day as "mostly false."

Some Trump allies have claimed that Pelosi refused to request support from the National Guard ahead of the riot, a decision that was in fact made by officials including the sergeants-at-arms.

Capitol Police found themselves badly outnumbered when Trump supporters overwhelmed them and swarmed into the Capitol on January 6, with some rioters searching the Capitol for Pelosi and ransacking her office as her staffers barricaded themselves into a room.

QAnon believers are flocking back to Dallas, Texas, after once again being promised that they'll be treated to an appearance by the late President John F. Kennedy, who would be 105 years old today if he hadn't been assassinated in 1963.

Vice News reports that QAnon influencer Michael "Negative 48" Protzman has told his followers that JFK is headed to Dallas, despite the fact that Protzman's similar prediction about JFK's return last November never came true.

As an added twist, Protzman also claims that the 105-year-old dead president will also reveal himself to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Although there's no official count of how many people are attending this event, Vice News has counted "dozens" of replies from Protzman's followers saying they will join him in Dallas.

This news isn't sitting well with the some of the families of people who follow Protzman, however, as they fear he has essentially taken over their minds.

“I’d like to say that I am glad Protzman’s group of believers are all heading back to Dallas so that Michael Protzman will be exposed as a liar, but I am not holding my breath that any of his followers will suddenly have the ability to think critically and see that they are following a madman,” one family member tells the publication. “They have the uncanny ability to believe everything Protzman tells them. I mean EVERYTHING.”

He's just seeing how crazy an idea he can push & they still buy it.
