It's the "too" that is telling.
I swear there was a Yahoo headline this morning that claimed exactly that.........as in Leftists supports lab conspiracy theories, or something to that effect.
I was gonna post it, but it was already past my bedtime
The main argument I've heard is IF you loved something or someone........WHY would you fundamentally want to change it?
And IIRC you have made the argument that often what starts as a great idea with good intentions, often gets overtaken with zealots and goes wayyyyyyy too far. That's pretty much the state of US political shifts the last few decades.

They don’t hate “America.” They love the super patriotic, flag waving jingoism and all the Hollywood-fied stoic settlers, pioneers, and cowboys taming the wilderness…something they say Native Americans were unable to do, so they didn’t deserve the land…and all the glorious wars we’ve won type narratives. The Lost Cause. They love that.
They simply hate most of the people living in America.

I think that subject matter is a perfect example of the far leftward drift in the US.
Personally I don't care one bit if anyone wants to change their gender after 18. That's their decision and private business. But as such, it should remain their sole responsibility to cover the costs themselves. And refrain from acting all offended IF others don't embrace your newly acquired identity as convincingly as you think they should.

Unfortunately, history has also shown what leaving things entirely up to the elite, intellectuals and Govt experts has produced in the US of late.
My contention is 99% of politics is merely Opinion. So we're never gonna have full agreement on most of it.
Even when the End Goal is the exact same wished for.......we may have very different ideas on the best approach in which to achieve those goals.
