When people left the department,  it would do an exit interview to find out why. My boss around 2004 did those interviews & the #1 complaint was the amount of unpaid overtime the job required to get a satisfactory (not outstanding) annual review. 

Meaning the department SERIOUSLY underestimated (deliberately) how much time it took to complete tasks. Overtime also was not allowed unless approved & never gets approved.  

I regularly worked 10 hours every week overtime no pay for years. 

I told you the gal I worked with recently got in trouble for sleeping at the office. 1 person expected to do the work 2 of us struggled to complete on time.
I have been retired almost 2 yrs. 
No, no one was hired or promoted to do my job. 

This is the complaint I keep posting, dude.
Employers thinking employees should be doing more than is realistically possible.

That's crazy. I'm shocked nobody ever reported it to OSHA or Workforce Development or whichever agency covers those kinds of abuses.

I've seen similar expectations in other lines of work. Ever since the ACA, many employers adopted this notion that cutting hours was good......and expecting even more work out of fewer people was the goal.

Here's where you could accuse me of adopting a more union attitude..........cuz I don't bust my ass anymore. If I'm just going to get a 'meets expectations' on every review, then you're just gonna get the minimum it takes to meet that standard.

My cousin worked for a local grocery chain and kept getting harassed in a similar way. Stressed him out. I kept telling him, just pace yourself.......and ALL you can do, is all you can do. IF they fire him for that, then they're on the hook and have to show that others are completing more work.......which was likely not the case.

And then people like Garner go ahead and vote for the likes of Biden or Obama? People who have never done a GD thing outside of politics?

It makes no sense.

Original thoughts? There's a whole lotta that anywhere these days?  WHAT hasn't been thought of before when it comes to politics? in the past? by some of the greatest minds ever born? THAT is what makes me laugh so hard at so many today that think they're smarter or more accomplished than some of the founders. It's clearly not the case.

Worked at Jack-in-the-Box.
Shift worker got promoted to shift manager. Started riding my ass for being too slow. Manager told him to back off because I was good at my cashier's even if I was slow on fryers.

SAN DIEGO — It was 36 years ago, when a CHP officer killed San Diego State Student Cara Knott.

Cara Knott’s body was found in a deserted area off the Old Highway 395 bridge. The 20-year-old had called her parents saying she was leaving her boyfriend’s house in Escondido. She stopped to put gas in her car then drove on I-15 toward her home in El Cajon. But she never made it.


"You're heart is fractured. There’s just no words. The pain will be with all of us the rest of our lives," Cara sister, Cynthia Knot said. "Looking for her all night long, up and down the freeways."

Cynthia Knott recalls how she felt seeing her sister’s 1968 VW Beetle.

"It was like being in a tomb, deathly, earie the worst gut-wrenching feeling when we saw her car, it was like nothing I can ever describe, we knew she was gone," she said.

Two and a half weeks later, police arrested Officer Craig Peyer, a 13-year veteran of the California Highway Patrol.

"She did everything right and she was pulled over by a CHP officer directed off the highway to a cul-de-sac and he took out a rope out of his trunk walked up to her, hit her with a flashlight, knocking her down, wrapping a rope around her neck strangling her until she was dead," said Paul Pfingst a former prosecutor. "(He) put her on his patrol car and dumped it off the bridge 100 feet into a ravine."

Peyer was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life.

"The sense of betrayal especially among women in San Diego was like anything I have seen or heard of before or since then. It was extraordinary," Pfingst said.

The murder led to changes orchestrated by Knott’s father Sam.

"The first thing he did was change the 48 hour waiting period to file a missing person’s report if you were 18 or older, eliminating that," said Knott.

The night Cara didn’t return home, the Knott’s tried to get help from police, but not enough time had passed. Sam Knott died in 2000. "

"From that day on Sam Knott began to die from his little girl’s death and ultimately he died on I-15 overlooking the spot where his daughter’s body was dumped by a CHP officer into a ravine," Pfingst said. "It’s the most incredible story I have ever been a part of."

Apparently he was pulling a lot of girls that looked like his daughter over at the time.

Don't be silly merh. People messing with your hours is probably a universal tactic in the workplace. Either they cut your hours cuz they want you to quit, or they try to milk you for hours so they can get a $Bonus themselves. It's still a matter of looking after yourself.

The ACA just gave a lot of people a legitimate excuse to limit most people to 28 or less.

The funny part to me after all these years.........is how often it just comes down to whether or not people can get along in the workplace. And the answer is usually NO. All it takes is a slight attitude in any direction, and people rub each other wrong. Cuz they're all their to be great chums? or work for a paycheck?

I'd think with the ubiquitous nature of cell phones these days, if they can't get ahold of you in 24 hours.......then there's probably something to be alerted to. For most people.

Even I, without a cell phone, can be found or gotten ahold of relatively quickly, imo

Tesla’s stock price plummeted to $110.55 on Tuesday, its lowest price since September 2020, and the drop in shareholder value could represent the company’s worst performance since its debut on public markets.

Despite the value of Tesla’s stock reaching a 52-week peak of $402.67 in March, the 9-month decline has cost the company more than 800 billion in market value in the last year. The electric vehicle company is underperforming a depressed tech sector market, which is down 40.8 percent year to date, by nearly 30 points, and hitting multi-year lows on an almost daily basis. In mid-December, Musk sold off more than $3 billion in Tesla shares, tacking the sale on to the more than $40 billion worth of shares he has offloaded this year.

If the bearish year experienced by tech companies wasn’t enough to concern Tesla investors, Musk’s tumultuous acquisition of Twitter has sent confidence in the billionaire’s ability to successfully manage both companies down the drain. The gravity of the situation is, in fact, sinking in.

Prominent investors in Tesla have pleaded with Musk to shift his focus back to his flagship company and appoint a successor to manage Twitter’s day-to-day operations. After polling Twitter users as to whether or not he should remain in charge of Twitter – and being thoroughly rejected by the voters – Musk announced that he would step down as CEO of Twitter as soon as he found an adequate replacement. Progress on that front has not been announced.

Despite Musk’s virtual full-time devotion to managing Twitter at the expense of Tesla, both companies are suffering from his divided attention. Musk has made a series of executive content moderation decrees that have backfired spectacularly, including the arbitrary banning of journalists, penalizing promotion of other social media accounts, and launching Twitter blue as a paid-verification service that artificially boosts subscribers’ content over that of non-paying users. The resulting chaos has lost Twitter more than half of its top advertisers, and the platform is bracing to face a potential barrage of lawsuits from former employees, unpaid vendors, and even international government bodies.

Earlier this month, Tesla investor Joe Cirincion accused Musk of “killing the company with his antics,” but the collapse of Tesla’s financial value may result in Musk having inadvertently killed two birds with one stone.

Cara Evelyn Knott (February 11, 1966 – December 27, 1986)[2] was an American student at San Diego State University who disappeared on December 27, 1986, while driving from her boyfriend's home in Escondido, California, to her parents' house in El Cajon. The following day, December 28, her car was found on a dead-end road at the Mercy Road off-ramp from I-15 in San Diego County. Her body was recovered at the bottom of a 65-foot ravine nearby.

On the night of December 27, 1986, 20-year-old Cara Knott was driving south on Interstate 15 from her boyfriend's home in Escondido, California, to her parents' home in El Cajon when Peyer, who was on duty in a marked CHP patrol car, directed Knott to pull off the freeway on an isolated, unfinished off-ramp. It was later discovered that Peyer also had been harassing several other female drivers in the same area by pulling them over on the same off-ramp, supposedly trying to pick them up as dates. In the Knott case, it was believed that the situation escalated to physicality when Knott threatened to report Peyer for his inappropriate actions. When he attempted to grab her, she slashed and scratched at his face. Peyer then bludgeoned her with his flashlight and strangled her to death with a rope. He then threw her body over the edge of an abandoned bridge, where she fell into the brush below.

Coincidentally, two days later, while covering the investigation of the murder, a reporter with KCST-TV interviewed Officer Peyer during a ride-along segment about self-protection for female drivers. At the time of the interview, Peyer had scratches on his face which, as details of the case unfolded, were thought to have been inflicted by Knott during the struggle with him. He tried to explain they were caused when he fell against a fence in the CHP parking lot but the fence was found to be too high to have caused the scratches on Peyer's face. Moreover, within about the hour of when the murder was thought to have occurred witnesses at a gas station saw a disheveled Peyer drive in at high speed. One of them, an off-duty San Diego police officer, reported seeing the scratch marks an hour before Peyer claimed he got them.

The freeway is named after her.

I didn't see any description of a motivation on his part.
