Apparently Floridaman is vacationing. As the rig is apparently from Florida. I'm wondering about the demon on that one tree.

MoneyWise 63% of Americans support the idea of new stimulus checks to combat sky-high inflation — and these states are stepping up to offer relief. But will it work? Lauren Bird Fri, December 23, 2022 at 8:00 AM CST High inflation, rising interest rates and labor shortages have many experts and economists concerned about a looming recession. With all this uncertainty, what is clear is that American households are struggling and could use some extra support right now. A poll done by Newsweek shows 63% of Americans support a new round of stimulus checks from the federal government to combat inflation. However, lawmakers in Washington have given no indication they plan to pass a fourth round of stimulus checks. And some analysts argue it will only aggravate the issue. “Handing out dollars in an inflationary environment will only make matters worse by driving prices up further,” wrote Beth Akers, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, in a blog post this fall. www.yahoo.com/finance/news/63-americans-support-idea-stimulus-110000692.htmlcomments:18 September, 2022 All this government spending is what is causing inflation in the first place. To lower inflation we need to take money out of the economy. That is why the Fed is raising interest rates. 1 day ago Yep. and also, this once again proves that 63% of people have no understanding of economics, fiscal policy, and what incurring additonal debt will do to this country. The more you feed hogs the more they want.

Believe it or not.........utilities is kinda one area where I can see collectivism's usefulness. I mean, things like water or electricity SHOULD BE widely available and extremely inexpensive.........but they allow it to remain kinda handled by others? And like always, the lies of Govt end up costing people more than they were promised?
We have WPS here, Wisconsin Public Service. And it's privately run, stocks owned, etc.......but it is heavily regulated and has to ask permission to raise rates? And meanwhile it implements policies like forcing every bill payer to contribute to the poor? And they're not allowed to turn off the power after late Fall, until early Spring. Guess how many people milk that for all it's worth?

Almost everyone wants "free money"
If I approached you on the street and offered you a $100 bill........would you just smile and take it?
And where/how did so many Americans come to believe that the money was "free"? Or is it they just don't care so long as someone else foots the bill? It's pretty pathetic either way, imo

You realize that even the average person would first react with a bit of skepticism. I think you'd be even harder to convince to take it.
Just another Govt handout.
At this point, just give EVERYONE a cool $Million. All problems solved, right? What more could anyone want?

The New York Times As Applications Fall, Police Departments Lure Recruits With Bonuses and AttentionMitch Smith Sun, December 25, 2022 at 10:30 AM CST WASHINGTON — As U.S. police departments seek to overcome an exodus of disgruntled officers and a sudden decline in applications, they are wooing recruits with some of the tactics a football coach might use to land a prized quarterback. www.yahoo.com/news/applications-fall-police-departments-lure-163034078.html ==========================================

I won’t go back to that profession no matter how much cash they throw out there…my work/life balance and overall happiness has improved drastically since leaving. Between local and national politics, long hours and missing family events for years, little sleep, and obviously dealing with terrible things…why would anyone want to go into that profession now? My old agency is struggling terribly with retirements and resignations and won’t recover anytime soon.

Portland lost a lot of officers because we had no "riot squad" just ordinary patrol officers doing overtime as the riot squad without training and with contradictory orders, which turned out to be EVERY NIGHT for a year because our mayor, who is also the default police commissioner (terrible idea, Portland need's an elected police commissioner), did NOTHING to stop the hooliganism, so many officers ended up exhausted, and with the non-support, complicated by brutality from the Feds, courtesy of Cucinelli, they all quit, so our mayor has decided the solution is to hire anyone over 18 and rush their training. Worst possible solution.

My neighbor worked his way up from beat cop to homicide detective. In 2020 he was told he had to go for refresher training in crowd control due to the BLM protests going on in our city. Since he was in his mid 50's he decided to put in his retirement paperwork.
My wife retired five years ago as a special education teacher. She loved working with the kids, it was the parents who changed.
In both instances we have a profession full of dedicated people making less money than they could elsewhere because they love what they're doing. The problem is our society doesn't show respect to such people. The retention problems are something we (meaning society) deserve.

If you think crime has gotten bad since 2020 then just wait until the economic downturn of 2023 really gets going.
Minneapolis desperately offering $7k for people to remain on their department really shows what happens when you treat the bunch as bad because of a few bad apples.

I would like to see more respect for officers and more respect for people in general. It goes both ways.
I do believe however, no matter what the issue is, if you Simply obey police commands and/or quit doing the crime altogether, you will see a lot More lives saved.

It’s not just the police who are having trouble finding applicants. Hospitals can’t find enough people to work. Try to go throw a fast food drive through and it will take forever.

Who'd want to go into law enforcement today, or the military for that matter. We did it to ourselves.

Teachers and Police Officers, public servants that once were held in high regard. Now the media has trained certain segments of the public to look down on them and think of them as the enemy, even though it's an extremely small percentage that actually "mess up". But, that doesn't make a good news story. Now you have this. Good job mainstream media, you are doing great things for this country. Keep up the psyop.
