What world do YOU live in? Anyone dies under 80 seems young to me. 80 is the benchmark. This isn't Russia, dude, where life expectancy is 72.79 The US is 78.99 so yeah, 80. African continent? I thought you were in Wisconsin
I live in this world. Those averages are computed how? Plenty of people die under 50 and a lot manage to make it into their 80s and 90s, so we end up with an average.
But compared to just a few generations ago, I don't think it's unreasonable to acknowledge that dying at 52 seems a shame and youngish these days........but it's all just a matter of luck of the draw sometimes.
I see the Obits with people in their youth, their mid-40s and 50s........and plenty making it to 70 and beyond. I'd guess we average about the same as much of the US.
sheesh, you go looking for a simple % on who lives past 60 on average and all you get is stupid commentary like this..........
"What is the percentage of people who live beyond or die before 60-years-old?
To answer the question as written, the percentage of people who live beyond or before 60-years-old is close to 100%.
Most people are either going to die before they reach 60 or after they reach 60. The only exception will be a small number compared to the total that die at exactly 60.
Obviously 60 years and one second is after 60. Dying one second before 60 is not 60 so it qualifies as dying before. The percentage gets even lower if one counts fractions of a second."

I assume it's some insurance chart thing but per encyclopedia Britannica So yeah. Hell, lots of kids die before they hit 2 yrs old. Doesn't mean one is lucky to make it to 10.

I'm just saying, there's a reason that Social Security picked the age they did........cuz it was a Bet on whether too many people would survive to and past that age. These days, more and more are amking it, unfortunately for SS.
Do you think the US counts abortions in those life expectancy figures? I know, I know..... ABBEY!? but it just struck me as a funny thought to consider whether or not that would lower our Age Expectancy average

Why would they add fetuses to life expectancy. Things might change banning abortion with babies born that Die shortly after birth. Better they die naturally, right? Or that we sink tons of tax money into trying to preserve them! Better than people living longer because of medical advances preventing people from dying of preventable diseases! Did you remember. So the President can get Social Security thanks to...whoever was president in 1983. That's what messed up government employees pensions in the 00s-politicians jumping in. Threw the formulas off. They make more than enough in their working careers. Surely they can squirrel away that same 6% into retirement accounts or Wall Street to make a better return on that money? Why do they want what the poorer folk make?

1. I notice that kind and caring doctor Brian didn't offer to reduce or waive his fee.
2. I do think the ENTIRE treatment for that wrist injury should clearly be covered in one package by the insurer. They're buying a house, but it took several years to pay off $9,000 in medical debt? And I do believe that medical bills should REMAIN just that, medical bills. NOT pawned off to collection agencies........so where's Congress on that? Oh, right.....they passed the ACA for those that never intended to pay a bill.
3. Gotta love the coding in medical bills. Sorta like our tax code, they make it more and more difficult on purpose.
4. Why is Dad worried about 'what'll happen' to college aged kids? They're adults, no?
5. Doctors should not be spending ANY time arguing with insurance companies. This should have been settled decades ago. The doctor makes recommendations for treatment and the insurance company offers policies that cover varying degrees of care. It should all be in Black & White whether or not it's covered. The sheer amount of paperwork pushing is one of the reasons it's so insane and costly. Also, like the schools, WHY are there so many Administrators in the first place? They NEED doctors and nurses. They do not need administrators in abundance.
6. Everyone knows about the Germans. They'd probably enjoy and engage in that sorta stuff for free if you let them. j/k I did notice that San Franciscan didn't mention the Cost of Living in their comparison between SF and Germany, though. hmmmm

1-Brian probably sees a dozen people a year who can't afford their deductibles. He's subbosed to do all this charity? Nice you're deciding that when tou argue so fiercely about your tax dollars. 2-why should insurance companies do that? Spreading it out throws it I to this situation where they might not be liable. Hell, I remember being on a plan in the early 80s where if one did not call the plan, wait on hold, etc, before going to the ER, they wouldn't pay the bill. 4-you stop worrying about your dogs when they are adult dogs? 5-you like the insurance system. Once again, Ronnie set in place for people to be denied disability on the first try. A simple pencil pusher couldn't decide an any buy the most obvious of cases. Everything else had to go above to an arbitrator. You think insurance companies don't do the same thing? Say no. Hope the patient will accept the no. Make it hell to get the help one needs. 6-he said he was at the same tax level in both Germany & Frisco. Presumably it was similar.

1. And? Brian and people like him expect ME to pick up the tab.........but they won't take care of it themselves? How am I being inconsistent here?
2. Because the Govt.......instead of getting involved in healthcare or insurance........should be legislating what insurance companies can and can not do in the US. THAT is their domain. Yeah, that sorta goes against the very definition of EMERGENCY, doesn't it? But then again, we all know people who use the ER for non-emergencies, as well. Why not label thewse idiots and refuse them service instead?
4. The worry is lessened.........and the amounts willing to be expended on them goes down with each passing year as experience has taught us that spending a ton of money might not achieve all that much more time with them anyway.
5. I do? That's why I normally let me wife take care of most of it? Cuz I'd rather avoid them entirely? Once again, it sounds irrational at first..........but then we've all seen and know people who claimed to be disabled but really were just scamming the system and ruining it for all. Insurance companies have adopted the policy of saying 'No' on the first try because they know a certain amount of people will just give up right away rather than deal with them. Science. Again, there's where Govt legislation would force them to comply or just plain not be licensed to sell insurance.
6. Yeah, as a percentage of his income. I'm talking about what it also cost him for rent, food, transportation, etc etc The COST of LIVING. I read awhile back that college students in Sweden? Norway? had their college paid for.........great? Yet somehow they still had more debt than Americans of the same age group.....because the cost of living was so high.

expatica.com/de/housing/renting/rent-in-germany-9.coinmill.comSo €8=$4.63 so per square meter? Double in Munich? You ask me when I don't live in Germany?

What's worse............applauding appreciation in unison?.........or talking at the screen during the film? That's right. You haven't seen a Marvel movie in a theater. People clap. People cheer. Other than the random rude ass, I haven't come across that many talkers. Worst anymore is babies. Why pay a sitter when you can bring the kid to the movie for free. The loud explosions won't wake it. Did you see Star Wars in the theater? Did the audience cheer when Han returned? That sort of thing. This self conscious twit is feeling superior to American audiences clapping when certain people show up in the new Spiderman movie (It was cool)

Tom Segura does a whole bit on people bringing babies to movies. "Excuse me, are you killing that baby back there?" No? Well could you? I'm trying to watch this movie."
Can't afford a sitter.........but you can afford a baby? Shows strong planning ability right from the get go.
I did. Walked across the downtown bridge and saw it in the theater. And yes, there was applause.
The last film I saw in theaters was Highlander II. There should have only been one.
Rentals made watching movies at home the absolute preferred option for me.

So, yeah, Star Wars is a huge influence on the Marvel people. That's the experience. One is doing it for oneself, not the moviemakers. Was it the 2nd movie in Phase 1? They made a point of severing a limb like Luke in Empire Strikes Back.

So, dude.
How Often do you wash your jeans?
Jammer is having a cow over the instructions that one should only wash jeans once a month to help the environment.
Because I have heard everything from never to every couple weeks.
Remember when Levi Strauss said never to wash one's jeans?
Some guy wore a pair for 15 months. There was no more bacteria on them at the end as at the 2 week point.
Denim is magic.
However, joking aside, one imagines cowpokes didn't wash their clothes that often on the trail
WTF PHONE?
Cowpoke is a word!

So one can see the relation between China & India, but Native Americans? All this argument about where native Americans came from. Must have had a connection to those myths

well, of course.
That's my first thought, too. It started in the Far East and migrated it's way over into North America
The various groups are a good example of evolution and how environment can alter species in a relatively short amount of time.
