I worked directly under a CEO for 13 years and he did very little. I took a lot of the responsibilities off him when I could because he had a terrible way of dealing with staffing issues and many other things. He definitely spent a lot more time looking out for his own interests, he often made phone calls to organize repairs on his rental house, went out to buy personal items like boats, and generally had very long lunches, so long in fact I stopped going to lunch with him because I'd fall behind on my work if I did. I made efforts to let the board know, but alas it was after he fired me that they woke up and got rid of him.

They are the ones not giving oil companies the money to drill more. They own stock in oil companies. It is good for them when gas costs more just like the whole 2008 crash situation.

In a recent dual interview with her mother Hillary Clinton, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sept 8, Chelsea dished on what happened between her and Ivanka, saying, “I would say we were friends. She’s not the person I called when I was curious about something for my kids or if I was debating a life decision, but we were definitely friends,” she said. “And then she went to the dark side.”

As if that wasn’t blunt enough, Chelsea brought forth another piece of information she wanted to be cleared up. In the interview, she also insinuated that Ivanka’s husband Jared Kushner lied in his recent book Breaking History, alleging that he added a piece of false information.

Kushner said he and Ivanka invited Chelsea out to dinner after the 2016 election results, but Chelsea quickly said in the interview, “It is true that I spoke to Ivanka in November 2016, it’s the last time I have spoken to her. But I do not recall being invited to dinner.”

This isn’t the first time Chelsea has spoken about her falling out with her now-ex pal, previously telling Stephen Colbert in 2018 on his show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, “I have not spoken to her in a long time. It’s clear, though, that she has supported policies and decisions that I don’t agree with. I’ve been very vocal about my opposition to President Trump.”

I'm not a fan of Ramsey's religious chit-chat..........but I'm sure he has wonderful advice for someone in their 20s to start saving/investing for an early retirement. They key is to start as early as possible so that Compound Interest really becomes your friend.

The Black Cat -- traditionally drawn as angry with claws bared, arched back, and a brushy tail (pictured, right) -- has long been one of the symbols of the IWW. It was probably conceived by IWW member Ralph Chaplin (most famous for penning the IWW / labor anthem "Solidarity Forever"), who produced many of the IWW's early "slient agitator" graphics which -- themselves -- had a close association with hobo signs (described elsewhere in this gallery of IWW cultural icons).

Although today the cat has a general association with the IWW -- sometimes even as a mascot -- it's original purpose was as a code or symbol for direct action at the point of production, specifically sabotage. Indeed, the cat may have even been chosen due to the convenient word play, "sabo-tabby" (possibly even an indirect inspiration for Mel Blanc's characterization of Bugs Bunny's often mispronounced "sabotagé"), though, as described in the section on sabotage, it must be emphasized that the latter did not mean destruction of machinery or equipment. (Indeed, readers are urged to also read the section on Sabotage in this gallery to understand its actual meaning).

Labor folklorist Archie Green has said that "the black cat is an old symbol for malignant and sinister purposes, foul deeds, bad luck, and witchcraft with countless superstitious connections. Wobblies extended the black-cat figure visually to striking on the job, direct action, and sabotage."

According to Ralph Chaplin, "My 'Sab Cat' was supposed to symbolize the 'slow down' as a means of 'striking on the job'," although others in the IWW used the symbol much more broadly.

Perhaps as a result, and due to the inevitable hagiography that arises when history becomes legend, other radical movements and/or organizations that have been inspired by the IWW (or rather their somewhat biased perspectives of it) and adopted the black cat (including many anarchist and radical environmentalist tendencies and organizations) have used the feline to symbolize something much different from direct action at the point of production.

Earth First!, for example, sometimes used a slight variation on Chaplin's original image (sometimes even with a monkeywrench in one of its paws) to symbolize monkeywrenching by "eco-warriors" -- which is quite different from direct action at the point of production by workers. Many anarchists have simply copied Chaplin's image to symbolize direct action in general, including mass insurrectionary activity.

The IWW does not condone or endorse such use of the black cat and bears no responsibility for its usage by others, nor does the IWW officially make use of the black cat to symbolize sabotage (indeed, the IWW does not officially endorse or condone sabotage itself). However, various IWW members, branches, and campaigns (including the recent Starbucks Workers Organizing Campaign) do make use of the black cat, but in general, it is more a mascot and a symbol of general collective working class militancy than anything else.

Perhaps the ultimate ironic twist is the notion of the proverbial cat having nine lives, due to the tendency of actual cats to hold up well in dangerous situations. An old IWW slogan declared, "the sab-cat has nine lives and no conscience." Like its furry, four-legged, (usually) green-eyed alter-ego, the IWW seems to also have nine lives and has survived all threats to its existence (thus far)

Hundreds of noncitizen veterans were placed in removal proceedings during the past six years despite policies to consider their service in deportation cases and to provide a pathway to citizenship for immigrants serving in the U.S. military.

Of the 250 veterans facing deportation, 92 were removed from the country, according to a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office released Thursday. Nine of the deported veterans had service-connected disabilities, including post-traumatic stress disorder.

Eighty-five percent of the deported veterans were legal permanent residents. And 26 of them tried to become citizens, according to the GAO report.

Noncitizen veterans can be deported, if they're convicted of certain felonies.

But the GAO found that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement "did not consistently follow its policies involving veterans who were placed in removal proceedings." Those policies were meant to ensure that immigration enforcement officials take additional steps in those proceedings and consider the military service of noncitizen veterans facing deportation.

Additionally, the GAO noted shortcomings in federal government efforts to guide immigrants serving in the military through the process to become naturalized citizens, despite policies of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Department of Defense to provide them with information about the process.

About 30% of deported veterans had previously applied for naturalization, the report found. If those veterans had been successful at becoming citizens, they wouldn't have been deported.

So again, we screw over soldiers.

There's nothing worse than waiting to get paid by a shady corporation. When I worked at a restaurant during my senior year of high school, my boss told me that the clock-in system was broken. He told me not to worry and that he would ensure I got the time I worked during those shifts accounted for. I did as I was told and didn't clock in for about 5 or 6 shifts during the Christmas season. Little did I know that I would never see any of that money from those shifts. I don't know if my boss forgot or if they were intentionally jilting us, but after that seasonal stint, I was done.

I think you need to look at it again. 
Chelsea says they were friends, but not the confidante type & that she disagreed with the Trump administration policies. If you remember, everyone was saying Ivanka would tone Donald down on some of the women's issues, but she didn't really.

So it sounds more like a casual relationship, speak at parties, etc, but not the hang with one another all day sort of "Let's go shopping" or "do lunch".

A woman who says she worked as a housekeeper for Jeff Bezos is suing the Amazon
founder and companies that manage his properties, claiming she endured “unsafe and unhealthy work conditions” and was subject to racial discrimination by other staff.

Mercedes Wedaa said she was hired by Bezos’ staff in 2019 to help maintain the billionaire tech magnate’s Seattle-area property. Wedaa and other housekeeping staff regularly worked between 10 to 14 hours a day, and weren’t given adequate meal or rest breaks, she alleged in the lawsuit, which was filed Tuesday in King County Superior Court in Seattle.

The lawsuit claims there was no designated break room or rest area, and no easily accessible bathroom. Wedaa and other housekeepers were prohibited from using a toilet in a nearby security room, which resulted in employees climbing out the laundry room window to access a bathroom, according to the lawsuit, which was earlier reported by GeekWire.

The complaint alleges that Wedaa and other housekeepers frequently developed urinary tract infections because they “had to spend large parts of their day unable to use the toilet.” Housekeeping staff also was allegedly prohibited from entering the residence when the Bezos family was there, unless they were cleaning.

Household managers allegedly treated Wedaa and other Hispanic cleaning staff poorly, while they were “respectful and polite” to Bezos’ white groundskeepers and maintenance staff, the complaint states.

Wedaa claims she was ultimately fired from her role after she raised complaints about working conditions and discriminatory behavior.

Harry Korrell, a lawyer for Bezos and other defendants, which include Zefram and Northwestern, two companies that manage his interests and properties, said Wedaa was fired for performance issues.

“We have investigated the claims, and they lack merit,” Korrell said in an emailed statement. He said that Wedaa made over six figures annually and that there were multiple bathrooms and break rooms available for her and other staff.

Patrick McGuigan, an attorney representing Wedaa, told CNBC in a statement: “No employer is above the law, not even Jeff Bezos and the organizations he uses to locate and hire people to work for him at his home and at his other properties. Federal and state labor and employment laws dictate that working people must be paid for the work they perform and that they must be able to perform their work in a discrimination free, safe, sanitary, and healthy workplace. These laws must be adhered to by all employers.”
