So they were unsuccessful?
All it takes is to say 'No'
Why would you order people to work in those conditions? Wouldny you just "See you tomorrow"?
Um, because being the owner or manager is all about keeping people on the job and productive.
All depends on what the situation actually was. Do you have inside knowledge or photos of a devastated workplace?

here's more on this story............
“The issue that people had was the building still reeked with smoke, it was difficult to breathe at some workstations,” Spence said. “We wanted to be sent home with pay because it was unsafe.”
Spence, who works the day shift but stayed late with the night shift workers to offer support, said they organized a work stoppage and demanded that the workers be sent home with pay. He estimates “more than 100 people” participated in the stoppage. “After a while it was clear that they weren’t going to cooperate with us, that they weren’t going to hear our demands, so we decided to walk out,” he said.
Paul Flaningan, an Amazon spokesperson, confirmed the fire and that roughly 50 workers had been suspended in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.
“Late Monday afternoon there was a small fire in a cardboard compactor outside of JFK8, one of our facilities in Staten Island, New York. All employees were safely evacuated, and day shift employees were sent home with pay,” Flaningan said. “The FDNY certified the building is safe and at that point we asked all night shift employees to report to their regularly scheduled shift.”
“While the vast majority of employees reported to their workstations, a small group refused to return to work and remained in the building without permission,” Flaningan said.

Sounds like typical Union BS to me. They didn't wanna work.......but they ALSO wanted to get paid to not work? Fire them all

FDNY certified safe from not collapsing? Did they also certify air quality?

I would think IF the FDNY still had to use respirators, they wouldn't have deemed it safe.
If you've ever been around something that's burned, smokey smells can linger for quite some time.
Why didn't your union brethren simply refuse to work UNPAID until the odors had dissipated? That would show it wasn't about the money, but their own personal level of comfort.

Dude, the Fire Dept isn't OSHA. Have them check the damned building. Fire is about fire. You think they limit occupancy because of air quality?

Dudette, the FD often has paramedics as part of the crew.......they're also conscious enough to know when to tell people to stay out/away..........or if it's OK to go back in.
They call the FD every time someone smells natural gas.

If every billionaire pulled their money out of the economy..........you'd notice
Who NEEDS very replaceable cogs? So long as there are others to fill the spot, you're not really worth much

So I imagine the OSHA asbestos warning my work issues every year? It was actually the fire department?

Isn't that the problem now, though? The cogs are saying "fuck this shit!"? It said work. If a billionaire doesn't go into the office, his company still hums along without him. Like the boss. The work gets done whether he's in the building or not.

I'd need more details on that. How olde was the building you were in? Sounds like the lead paint issues in Milwaukee they've been 'addressing' for over 50 years now.
I saw FDNY mentioned in one of the articles on that story.

It is a problem now.........but more so for the workers actually showing up. As in they are expected to work harder with fewer people. The businesses will either continue on, or close up shop.
The whole point of becoming a successful and growing business, is to then have the ability to stop working so hard yourself, step back and hire quality people to do the work for you.
I'll just point it out again.......how often do you see any of these Unions offering to buy out ownership? It should be a simple thing to get financed. And without the Owner soaking up so much in pay, the profits could be going to the oh so valuable workers, right?

The rabble is always restless. That's their problem.

Certainly seems to be an orchestrated effort by this Govt to push unions into more workplaces.
Starbucks has so much money and so many locations, they should shut down every store that votes union immediately and fire every employee that signs up.
Unfortunately, they've backed the Blue team for years and it might make them look like hypocrites

Does that change anything?
The only sad/funny thing is that's how MOST young people are coming out of public schools these days. Angry over what they've been taught

They are angry at where the power in this country has put them. The companies claim to be "family," but do not care.

Because that's what the public demanded from their PR departments. Who told you to EVER believe that?
It's no different than all of these corporate charity drives. You think the company truly cares? Or they just do it cuz it looks good to the general public? And those corporate donations are probably a good chunk of the charity in this country anyway........so WHY all the bitching?
Th3e AVERAGE person does not care, merh. Why would a company or a govt be ANY different? They're comprised of people, too.
And bragging up family doesn't seem all that smart an idea when you consider what families get up to with one another, as well.
