While most of us have been socialized from a young age to want to be “normal,” this PSA dismantles the very idea of normal by encouraging viewers to not filter themselves to fit unrealistic norms.

This seems to be from a charity/activist organization regarding mental illness, started by Glenn Close.

Did I miss where this has become a worldwide movement against language?

Seriously though, I get your point and don't disagree, but you need to stop acting like the ramblings of a tiny group are somehow trying to strip you of your humanity or whatever.

That argument sounds like the olde lines about "Bahhhh, this idea of PC is all in your head!"  Do you remember that? Just a few short years ago?  

It's just yet another word that doesn't mean what it used to because of some goofy people. And I'm not really a big fan of normal or abnormal. I don't care enough.......but to ruin the language in order to push an agenda yet again?  pffft

it's actually kinda funny because months ago someone I know said a childhood friend of his, that leans very collectivist, stated "There's really no such thing as normal anyway." And it really bothered him for some reason. We've discussed it a few times.

So the other night I see the tail end of a TV commercial and it's a #NoNormal

PSA?    Now why do I automatically suspect tax dollars are being funneled and burned thru these people? To bring these kinda nonsensical messages?

You haven't noticed? Maybe cuz you've been over there so long? It's the tiny squeaky groups getting their way again and again here. When they should just be told "Shut The F Up!" instead they're given a platform and used as yet another divisive tool to keep people on edge and combative here.

imo, bottom line..... if you've got some sort of mental health issue.....then by definition, your mind isn't functioning/processing things in a normal way. What's the problem with that?

How do you ever expect to solve a problem if you refuse to identify it and label it correctly? Soft language cures anything?
