You're more harsh than that 1619 chick Those 1619 folks seem to forget that slavery already existed in the New World for about 130 years before the White Lion landed.
They're educated!!
I'm guessing it's not a case of forgetfulness .........but something else

Probably because it has to do with the 13 original colonies of Britain rather than those of Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Norway, The Netherlands, France.... People want reparations? Talk to all of those countries first before you even start talking to the US government.

Seriously........if you just kept going back further and further......who WOULDN'T owe others? The US didn't begin the practice of slavery in the New World (or even in the areas that would eventually become the US), so I don't think the US should be the only ones handing out reparations.

I believe I mentioned I heard someone refer to the NFL as a form of slavery recently........ isn't EVERY form of employment by others seen like that now?
Like so many other things, larger amounts of money certainly allows a person to choose their own kind of misery

I think the slavery metaphor is more apt in regards to sports: trading... selling... but, yes, people are way too quick to whip out the word "slavery" in regards to employment in general these days.

I am slightly shocked the Combines are still allowed
But really, none of them are forced to stay in the NFL or accept trades.
They can always just retire and use that college education they received to earn so much more than the average American anyway, right?

98% of college athletes will NEVER go pro... but they still got a free education... paid for by the (ever rising) tuitions of the non-athletic students.
And let's not forget those 1 - 2 million dollar salaries for athletic coaches paid for by the (ever rising) tuitions of the non-athletic students.
What about those multi-million dollar athletic facilities paid for by the (ever rising) tuitions of the non-athletic students?
Anyone else seeing a solution to the "student debt crisis" staring them right in the face?

Did all 98% of them? really?
I'd wager to guess that Men's sports more than pays for their programs......to include funding a lot of other things, like women's sports. Not saying I totally agree with the massive financial machine college athletics has become........ just sayin'
Coaches are often THE highest paid public employee in many states. Again, those programs really sell a lotta tickets and memorabilia
Sorry, between the money they make off the sports and all of the boosters and sponsors, I am not sure where you got the idea that the tuitions are paying for the sports........more like the other way around.

You're not buying it?
At this point, I'd think the TV and gambling revenues alone is a tremendous amount of wealth flowing in......... like the NFL or MLB, they probably don't even need actual butts in seats at this point.
I found this, as well..........can't believe UW-Madison cracked the Top 10. WTH have they really done on the big stage the last several decades?
The University of Texas at Austin Football 1 1 $104,923,029 (7.1%) $112,946,938 University of Georgia Football 2 3 $85,962,666 (16.4%) $73,865,914 University of Michigan-Ann Arbor Football 3 2 $81,088,721 (8.3%) $74,839,669 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Football 4 5 $64,247,121 (7.5%) $59,761,297 Ohio State University-Main Football 5 9 $62,893,801 (14.3%) $55,014,561 University of Oklahoma-Norman Campus Football 6 11 $60,426,186 (17.6%) $51,364,592 University of Wisconsin-Madison Football 7 6 $58,092,043 (0.2%) $58,230,546

Some things you left out: It's only for three years and it's a response to the disruption to the educational system caused by Covid. It has nothing to do with standardized testing. It doesn't remove graduation requirements. It's actually going to be revisited next year. not caused by covid////caused by lib commies

Are you saying that Covid was caused by "liberals"?
Are you suggesting that Covid is/was some sort of "plot to destabilize the government"?

So you're saying you believe it may not have been created by them.......but it was certainly encouraged.

im saying this country was shut down because of lib commies. I'm saying you don't know what the word "commie" means.
I'm also saying that widespread lockdowns would probably not have been necessary if everyone had just followed the simple wash/mask/distance guidelines. The Trump administration had at least 2 months to do something and they didn't. Those first two months were crucial and because of Trump's inaction, hundreds of thousands died, millions went unemployed, many still are. That's on Trump, NOT the people who begged him to get out ahead of it. If Trump weren't spending so much time playing to his "make libs cry" fan base, he might have actually listened to sane advice instead of trying to scare everyone in the room into toeing his line.
We needed Trump to act as if he were the leader of 331 million people and not just his base, and he failed.
