Health To Defeat Delta Variant, Experts Recommend Doing All The Things That Didn't Work The First TimeJuly 26th, 2021 - BabylonBee.com U.S.—To defeat the massive, scary, definitely world-ending wave of COVID being driven by the delta variant of the deadly, frightening disease you should remain afraid of for the rest of your life, experts are recommending we try all the things that didn't work the first time. From wearing masks and social distancing to locking everyone down and destroying the economy, experts are all suggesting that we just try the same things we did last time that didn't work at all. "We are going to lock down, wear masks, and social distance, all of which didn't work, but hey. It's worth trying again," said Dr. Anthony Fauci in a television interview this morning. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's what they taught us in science school. Look at my lab coat. It's white. Do you like it? It has pockets." The television anchor then assured Dr. Fauci that his pockets were very nice. "Thanks. I also have the heartbeat thingy. I like to breathe on it to warm it up. Makes me look official and doctory and whatnot." At publishing time, experts had clarified that while we're going to be doing the same things that didn't work over and over again, we're going to be doing them harder this time.

While I appreciate the humor, on a serious note, the reason those things didn't work before (IN THE US) is because there was no wide-scale commitment.
You can't win a tug-o-war with only one guy pulling against 20.

Sounds like our soon to be situation with the social programs

Bad analogy, Abs.
The disease is trying to cause harm.
165 million people in the workforce paying taxes for social programs to help the workforce get bigger and help the lives of their fellow countrymen improve sounds like a good thing to most rational people.

it's a good analogy in that there seem to be a larger group of people looking for handouts.........and a smaller amount of people willing to work and provide for them.
Inviting millions of immigrants in to foot the growing bills doesn't seem like all that wise a move either.

I should have known "immigrants" would make an appearance.

Granted, may of the legal immigrants do end up becoming bigger successes than millions of 'educated' American citizens.......so they do end up contributing more than others.
But I'd guess the overall result is a Net Loss, still.

While I would prefer that immigrants come here legally, an 11% bump in the GDP is pretty impressive, but the rank and file worker, usually only cares about #s 2 and 3.
In #2, $55 billion sounds like a lot but it's only about 0.2% of our GDP. +11 vs. -0.2 seems like a pretty decent trade-off
But it's really all about #3, isn't it. People on the right can't really argue about the fact that it was Republicans who sent the jobs overseas so they bitch about who is coming in to "steal" the low-wage jobs that are left. And they really don't want to talk about how it was Republican administrations that caused the problems for so many Central and South Americans which forced those people north to seek asylum so they blame the Dems for simply being too nice to them.
In the end, we caused their problems, so we should have a better mechanism for them to seek redress in the form of legal access.

Sorry. I'm not a virologist nor geneticist to be able to show you and explain to you how different gene sequences determine the difference between, "variant" and "completely new disease," but I think I can give you a visual to help you understand.
Think of "variant" as typing the same word with a different font:
Covid-19 Covid-19 Covid-19 Covid-19 Covid-19
And "completely new disease" as typing a different word entirely:
Covid-21
See?
Did that help or you going to disavow the science? Please use caution as ProBoards has rules about the spreading of misinformation about Covid. I don't want to have to slip into my Admin costume.....

no. there is no data showing its a variant. any why anybody would just believe what power hungry lib commies say without proof , is a fool. by the way...the "information" changes every day . what they say one day...they call mis info the next day. info doesnt mean real. why dont they say " lies" ? because they are the ones spreading them. have you noticed that everything is a crisis to libs? if its soooooo bad,,why are the libs letting the infected invaders in and just shipping them all over the country? what of that is mis info?

1st and last sentence:........ yep, I'd prefer they come legally, too........and if Congress doesn't wanna enforce the law, then get rid of the goldurn things. Otherwise it leads me to believe we should all just start picking and choosing which laws to obey.
I got no problem blaming the GOP for 'allowing' jobs to go overseas.........but are you claiming none in the Dem party owned or operated businesses at the same time?
Steal? Not sure I'd use that word, myself. Many times it's clear US people don't wanna work certain jobs. Other times it's cheaper to hire Illegals. But just from a standpoint of more people taking up more space/rentals and using up more resources........ I don't see how it can't be agreed that the previous administration's efforts led to lower unemployment for fairly easy to understand reasons.
Why not just invite the entire rest of the planet in? It's big country........and if they're so valuable, then the GDP will surely go up exponentially, right?
There's no reason for the US to put it's own citizens first, right? Sorta the opposite of what China is doing to you?

1. Congress doesn't enforce laws.
2. I was unaware that I had to type 50 million caveats every time I posted. I'm sure that there were plenty of Dems who have benefited (and continue to benefit) from off-shoring jobs. Why do always try to jump on things I didn't say as if by not saying something that it means I automatically believe something? Grow the fuck up and stay on topic.
3. It's the word that many of your ilk use.
4. That's what Jared and Donnie were doing. That's how they got so much money for their projects: they were selling green cards to people and their families and none of them were subject to background checks or any other form of vetting. It's called the EB-5 visa. Look it up.
5. If you want to put US Citizens first then give them single-payer UHC, good schools, housing equity, etc. Eliminate institutional racism. Legalize pot... and every other recreational drug for that matter. Invest in infrastructure. ETC.
Putting America first should be about improving our lives not trying to fuck over everyone else.
It really is that simple.
This is where you realize I'm right and deflect with, "blah blah blah illegals blah." G'head.

1. But it all runs downhill. We've seen what happens to police officers that DO enforce currently unpopular laws.
2. No. I'm a ToysRUs kid.
3. You have been effectively groomed to look for specific 'code words' that you automatically deem and label as 'racist'. And they keep adding to that list.....things like owning guns, liking the American flag, believing in US sovereignty, etc etc.....ALL now super secret code for white supremacy.
4. Why not just look at the sheer number of people allowed IN to US on a year by year basis? versus how many left?
5. No to the UHC. That time/opportunity passed long ago. Your kinda people were in charge of providing the good schools. Another missed opportunity. Unions come first. Equity? I've been groomed to be on the look out for that BS collectivist word, too. I'm totally with you on legalizing drugs.....just be sure to stop handing out the NARCAN. Taxes on properties and gasoline have been charged and collected for decades.......somebody spent all that infrastructure money on something else.
Putting on your oxygen mask first is not fucking over the person next to you. Drowning right along with the drowning person does not make for a better swimming experience. The US is spiraling in a downward direction.......and all you've got is heavily weighted options.
