So anyone can buy heart medicine, etc? You know once it's over-the-counter health plans stop covering it so your plan actually allows Big Pharma giant profits charging what they want. I got prescription Flonaise for $5 a bottle. As soon as it was over-the-counter I was told the doc couldn't write rxs & I cannot afford that stuff at retail. So you're one who thinks drugs only affect the user? Not the family? Not the victims of crimes they commit to buy the drugs? Let them all die? The problem is fentanyl is wildly potent & it's getting put in lots of other drugs to spike potency. They can buy oxy, but it's been spiked so the buyer doesn't know.
Open it up to prescription meds from places like Canada, too.
Big Pharma is still getting rich off of Govt programs, is it not?
Everything affects everyone. Alcohol, smoking, vaping, fast food, etc etc etc Where do you ever stop in your power grabs?
They're not living, merh. They're existing......while ruining other peoples' lives.
Fentanyl is a selling point currently........ anything newer and more powerful is what they're after. You can't stop them.
Don't drink alcohol. Don't use recreational drugs. Don't smoke. Aren't smokers often a drain in the.world at the end? Existing. Ruining the lives of their friends & family? Thing is, they don't see the difference. A beer for you, so why not pot for them? And if pot doesn't take them to where they want to go, why not other drugs?

Neither do I........... but I'm guessing you won't ever face the same sort of snickering mocking that I do for saying so on forums like this.
Aren't the vast majority of people just useless wastes of Oxygen? I mean, really
That's what all sorts of people do with their vices, whether it's drugs, alcohol, fast food, cigarettes, extreme sports, and on and on and on.
That's sorta my point. The difference is I'm all for both freedom to choose for oneself and the freedom to suffer the consequences of your choices.

I have stated my grandfather smoked. Called the ciggies his coffin nails. I have no pleasant memories of smokers. Sorry. I know what it did to my grandmother watching him die slowly. She, on the other hand, went pretty fast. Active senior, the machine they used to lower seniors into the pool broke, dropping her, breaking her hip. She apparently declined fairly quickly being stuck in the wheelchair.

So you'd prefer to use the force of Govt to wrap people in bubblewrap?
I am totally astounded by the smoking ban........as so many love gathering around bonfires.........and now pushing for legalizing pot.
I also notice tobacco is still on the shelves and being subsidized.

My right to hate tobacco with a passion. They pitch to young people who just want to look older or cool or both. Have I not mentioned the gal I worked with who would sit & stare into a little pocket mirror, running her fingers over the wrinkles on her lips?. She smoked for years to lose weight. Hubby bought her a fur coat for quitting. Then he left her for a woman born the year they were married when I knew her-around 40 yrs old. Her daughter worked there as well, said dad went crazy. Gave her some silverware he wanted her to have as if it meant something & it was just normal silverware. You bitch about Big Pharma, but not about the lies of Big Tobacco. Or Big Oil? The crap all these companies keep zipped up. Car companies do it. But you love Big business

It is your right. Aside from Depends, what isn't pitched to the young kids these days? Get 'em while their young. Groom them to be good little followers and consumers.
Men are pigs/dogs. Who didn't know that? We won't get into what women are at the moment.
What lie is not known about these days, sunshine? Running ads with a doctor proclaiming that Chesterfields are the best haven't been seen in many decades. But I don't see much difference.........people KNOW what they're doing when they begin these activities. They've been told repeatedly. $Billions have been spent on educating and protecting them.....and then they go right ahead and partake anyway.
Is that a Pinto accusation? Actually I like competition as I see it brings about the best products at the lowest prices. So the more smaller companies, the better. The US has had over 200 auto manufacturers. Now it's just the Big 3? And they've been bailed out how often now? That's why I said they should have just been allowed to fail. Someone would have taken their place.........but people like yourself just love keeping the same people in charge that run things horribly and burn thru tax dollars.

Pinto didn't cross my mind. I was thinking Volkswagen & was it Nissan or Mitsubishi that was hiding consumer issues?

did you know most of those VWs just ended up elsewhere on the planet? Still running just fine. My Russian friend had one and was pissed he was forced to turn it in.
There are recalls all the time. It's a lot of working parts to combine.
I only recently found out how far down Nissan has fallen in quality........but they were bought out by Renault, so it all makes sense now

All of them have been bought by someone else so none of them are trustworthy, are they?

Trustworthy how?
They run, they give great gas mileage and they were likely bought at a discount.
You think people really care it spits out a few parts per million extra in diesel exhaust? THAT's the big joke here, merh.
Meanwhile the people responsible for such legislation are being driven around in huge SUV caravans and enjoying private jet travel?

Wasn't the Japanese company's issue they were hiding complaints like safety stuff? Brakes, example? Then there was that acceleration thing killed a few people.... pke?

I'm sure there's always a fine line between trying to keep stuff from blowing up into something larger than it is........and limiting the exposure to liability and costly recalls.
Glad you mentioned that........because aside from 'Unsafe at Any Speed'..........that is about the most well known example of evil corporate behavior with cars, right? They almost drove Audi out of the US market altogether with their BS. And you know what the #2 vehicle that received the same kinda complaints was? The Ford Taurus.......but somehow the media didn't stress that at all?
It all came down to people, pedal closeness........and panicking/hitting the accelerator instead of the brakes in almost every case.
Don't forget the whole Firestone tires thingie, too. Just as tall SUV were taking over for lower cars.........people who never bother to check their tire pressure were rolling over driving trucks like cars around corners. Voila! Rollover!!
pke? Not sure what that is

I have no.idea. Finger probably swiped as I was hitting post hence pke... I pulled the mat out of the driver side of the Nissan. I noticed the little reinforced hole ripped out so the mat slid forward & a couple times it made the car accellerate so I would pretty much stand on the brake while kicking it back, but when the kid started driving I figured lack of experience would possible be bad/accident. So, no. Not pedal confusion all the time, dude. My father ranted about Jeeps, said they were made to roll & isnt an SUV basically a jeep? The issue with the Suzuki Samurai was the wheelbase was bad coupled with they were wild popular with young drivers which meant less experience.

I was going to mention mats, too. There are a ton of 'mishaps' like that every year........and it almost always comes back to the operator, not the equipment.
An SUV is basically a station wagon with a much higher center of gravity. More weight on larger tires.......it simply will not ever handle like a smaller car especially around curves.
As well as one of the shortest wheelbases on the road at the time. A friend of mine was totally into those and he even had his lifted higher. Let's toss in vehicles like ATVs into the discussion. I get a kick out of how many have been killed or maimed........but that doesn't seem to stop the marketing showing drivers getting sideways with them at 50-60 MPH. And the consumers have always pushed for more and more 'performance'.
I would suggest many vehicles require an automatic Waiver be signed by the purchasers........but I know contracts don't mean a thing in the US anymore.
