Yet we see fans of Black Sabbath waving that damn "Rebel Flag" around.

As I have mentioned in the past on this and other boards: to many of us - in our youth - the "Rebel Flag" was about rebellion... saying "fuck you" to "the man."

There was no racist intent. We were just flying the flag of rebellion.

Of course, those of us who were rebelling against "authority" set aside our "Rebel Flag " when some folks said it was a symbol of oppression because that's exactly what we were fighting against.

Now, some people are saying that the American flag is a symbol of oppression in the same way.

FUCK YOU!!!!

America may be imperfect. We may not have fulfilled all of our promises yet - some may be waaaay overdue - but we're fucking trying. If you think the American flag is a symbol of oppression, you don't have enough IQ points to fill a Pez dispenser, so you need to fuck off.

And I want to say this right here and right now: YOU don't represent me, Gwen Berry. YOU don't represent equality for the USA. YOU represent hatred and segregation and you can try to hide it behind the color of your skin but you're nothing more than a racist, anti-American cunt.

Is America perfect?

No.

Is it ever going to be perfect?

Not as long as shitstains like you keep dwelling on mistakes of the past instead of offering real, non-racist solutions for the future.

These days? Sure.

But in the past? I don't think the issue was so cut and dry. Maybe those southerners were using it as a symbol of white power while others - as stated - just saw it as a general symbol of rebellion against authority.

Times change. Opinions are heard. Attitudes change.

The video is from 16 years ago in another country. Do you really think the people waving that flag in that place at that time were doing so with racist intentions?

I tend to think not.

Do I think they were (maybe still are) ignorant of its other meaning? Almost assuredly, but I can't call them "racist" off hand. Maybe if they had known about its place as a symbol of racism that they may have chosen to wave a different banner. I don't know and neither do you and therefore it is wrong to apply a label.
