1. I'd like to see an educational system where they don't feel they have to
2. You have mentioned NARCAN in several posts. All I know about it is that it's an effective treatment for opioid overdoses (thank you Ana de Armas). Other than that, I have no idea what you're on about.
3. At the time, I felt that I had no options based on my situation and circumstances. Could I have stayed and overcome the problems? Possibly. Did moving here solve the problems almost immediately despite engendering a few new ones? Absolutely.
4. Unions had their time and purpose... then just became "evil corporations" in their own right. That doesn't mean that all the problems are gone nor that the problems require a solution involving a public good.
1. My libertarian buddy has said for years "When everyone has a college degree......a college degree will be worthless." The same thing pretty much already happened to the high school diploma. IIRC, you even posted something about many job openings requiring a college degree where it was never necessary in the past? When I think of my own work history....... I honestly feel the last year or two of high school could have been skipped and just getting me into the workplace earlier would have been a better use of resources. The same is true for millions of my fellow Americans......sad as that might be in reality for you to observe.
2. NARCAN does an almost miraculous job of reviving people on death's doorstep. Then they go right back to doing their drugs. Rinse/Repeat. And since it's 'free' they end up sticking the tax payers with the costs of $600-1,200 per poke. What a country!? Like many other 'services'........the worst among us have learned how to game the system and end up using up an inordinate amount of resources that would be much better spent/invested elsewhere. Meanwhile people with cancer or diabetes or a host of other legitimate ailments are still expected to pay for their prescriptions. (I know your response will be it should ALL be free......and you know what my opinion of that is, too)
3. And now you're at the mercy of a racist nationalistic and tyrannical Govt? I'm sure you'll adapt and be fine, though.
4. Agreed completely.
1. Now you're arguing about something I never said (and even spoke against), so... fuck off
2. Free? You mean it's just sitting there in buckets on every street corner? How about this: Wouldn't it be nice if the country had a health care system that actually treated drug addiction so the cycle of "rinse and repeat" would eventually come to an end for most people? We should import some of those Portuguese doctors to see how it's done....
3. And yet I have a job where I can live a nice lifestyle and still save enough money to leave and set up someplace else should I need to. Am I a fan of the government here? Nope. Not at all. But moving here satisfied a need that living in the US could not even though the US government is racist, nationalistic, and often tyrannical.
4. You say you agree, but balk at actually implementing public goods. Weird.

1. If you can't even agree that everyone in the country having a college degree devalues them, then I'm not sure I'd want you as an Education Secretary.
2. Yeah 'FREE' in quotation marks........because it ain't free. the poor tax payers get stuck with those bills like ALL welfare programs. And your solution? Stick the tax payers with an even costlier system? Brilliant! Never mind that drug addicts tend to migrate right back to their use until they're either dead......or damn good and ready to give up drugs. There is no in between. A former co-worker of mine used to work for a local treatment center, the Jackie Nitschke Center. It was named after the alcoholic wife of Packer great Ray Nitschke. This therapist explained to me that the 'success' rate is 10% or less. You think I should be impressed by that?
3. All you're doing is showing me what drive and motivation can accomplish. Sorta goes against all the excuse making other people employ to explain all their continued failures.
4. Because I do not believe that the public good is best served by more and more and MORE govt. It's actually the opposite, imo. There is a saturation point. I know most teachers do not subscribe to that belief. Couldn't be some sort of inherent bias, could it? Like everyone on PBS or NPR supporting perpetual tax supports?

Since I never said they should, I don't know why I'm being asked to disavow it. Since I've posted several times saying exactly the same thing as your "friend," I'm doubly nonplussed.
2. Since drug addicts represent about 10% of the population of the US, I'm surprised you think of them at all... mathematically speaking. Why should you give a fuck about 10% right?
3. Yes. You should completely ignore that I'm white, male, hold multiple degrees, and have a charming personality. All the companies in America did.

1. We must just miss each other's actual points often enough to make it frustrating.
2. You think it's just 10%? I'm not sure, myself........but I'm definitely seeing more and more blatant drug activity with each passing year. That 10% eats up a tremendous amount of resources though that they should be receiving in the first place.
EDIT: Here's a story that just popped up.......it's about what I've been seeing of late, the kinda people having the most kids.........
3. How did your white privilege help you out over there? I can certainly see why they'd be detriments on your resume in modern America, of course. And I'm LOLing at the charming personality.
4. Even those are debatable, though. The first photo there was a dam. How often have you heard about the negatives of dams these days? And if you looked up what went on in order to get those built in the US during FDR's time, it'd never fly here today. Not to hit your new location again, but I've heard there's already been some serious issues with their much newer massive dam. That true? Do all the goods outweigh all the bads? Guess it depends on where you're standing yet again. (No offense to any disabled people that can not stand)

1. Nope. I do my best to say exactly what I mean. When you "misunderstand" it's obviously because you;re deflecting or an absolute idiot. Pick one.
2. I checked multiple sources and 10% is the generally accepted number of drug addicts in the US. I think it's interesting that you blame government interference for anything and everything, but when people have shitty lives due to government and turn to drugs you start yammering about "personal responsibility."
3. I am fucking charming in person.
Being white is extremely helpful is East Asian countries as light skin is a symbol of beauty and intelligence.
4 What photos are you talking about?
Stop talking about the word "good" as an adjective when the topic is about nouns.
