Tucker has reported that immigrants are being flown out of Laughlin AFB in Texas, which is true.
Tucker said that ICE using Laughlin just started in June of this year, which is false. It was used by ICE for the same (or to similar purpose) during the Trump administration, specifically in May of 2019.
ICE has confirmed that some immigrants ARE being flown out of Laughlin to other ICE centers (which is routine), but Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson is questioning the legality of this as "military resources" are being utilized and Congress has given no approval. The only military resources being utilized are the runways, ATC, and barracks for the ICE agents. The planes are the property of ICE and the pilots are employed with ICE. Also, Congress doesn't need to approve the use of federal facilities for use by other federal facilities. Inter-agency cooperation (Memorandum of Agreement) happens all the time without a session of Congress being called. Also, the president can order all sorts of things without Congress' approval. Just ask Donnie Drumpfuhrer, who issued 220 Executive Orders in just 4 years (look here for a comparison with other presidents).
Tucker wants to know why the American public has not been informed about where these immigrants are being flown to and housed... as if the average American could tell you anything more than "at the border" now. Unless you're one of the people living near a detention center, you probably haven't got a clue.
Tucker also mentions that the personnel on the base were ordered to not take pictures of these flights or the goings on of ICE at all. Tucker wants us to think that this is due to the nefarious nature of what's going on, but I'm guessing that there are a lot of rules about military personnel not taking pictures of life on base and sharing them on social media. Could you imagine the elation of China and Russia if military personnel were posting pics of the latest military hardware on their Instagram? It sure would save them a lot on their espionage budget.
In the end, Tucker suggests that democracy has been subverted because the "people" don't know and were never asked for their permission. Obviously, Tucker wasn't paying attention in college the day "representative democracy" was explained, and yet he still managed to get a Liberal Arts degree in "History." Maybe that's why the CIA denied his application and his father guided him towards journalism because - as his father said - "they'll take anybody."
I'm sure that the racist, Republican stalwarts will now start asking questions and demanding answers. They'll stall the workings of America and waste millions in taxpayer money to chase down this "problem." They'll twist themselves into knots worrying that illegals are stealing jobs from hardworking white pe... Americans and that immigrant children might actually get an education. Oh the horror!
Look. I don't want people coming to the country illegally either, but once they are here, they need to be moved to different places to avoid overcrowding, to determine their status, and to be deported. It's not all happening at a single location and that means that transportation is needed. Does Tucker think we should just put them on commercial flights out of Dallas-Fort Worth?
