A Minnesota woman who allegedly plowed through a cemetery during her ex-boyfriend’s funeral services has now been accused of a prior act of chaos.
Blair Whitten, 28, made headlines in May after she allegedly tried to run people over at a Fargo, North Dakota cemetery on Saturday as they were putting Colin MacDonald, 24, to rest.
“Multiple complainants reported Whitten was driving her vehicle, inside the cemetery, in a manner with extreme indifference for human life which created substantial risk of serious bodily injury to persons in the cemetery," Jessica Schindeldecker with the Fargo Police Department told local station KVRR at the time.
"She knew she wasn't welcome and what she did instead of leaving peacefully was try to run somebody over and run somebody else over, which was me," Gericka Charbonneau, MacDonald's current girlfriend, told local outlet KVLY in May. Nobody was physically injured at the cemetery.
Whitten became persona non grata at the funeral service after reportedly penning bizarre, negative social media posts following his death. She even allegedly posted that she had killed MacDonald, even though he died in his sleep following surgical complications, Newsweek reported.
Friends and family of MacDonald say they’ve been dealing with threats and harassment from Whitten for at least five years before MacDonald's death. She was charged with one count of misdemeanor reckless endangerment as a result of the cemetery incident. She pleaded not guilty back in May.
Now it appears that Whitten is accused of another bizarre act just weeks before the cemetery incident. A marble statue of Jesus, which stood outside St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Fargo, was spray painted black during the morning hours of April 17, local outlet KVRR reports. Investigators allege that Whitten was the culprit. She has been charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal mischief in connection with the statue’s vandalization.
