Wow
I don't know why I never watched it when it was on. Maybe it was because I had just moved and started a new job in Philly and got caught up in other things?
Anyway... great show! The characters and their arcs are brilliant. The actors did a great job bringing the characters to life and the direction was amazing. The show mostly takes place in offices but to add urgency and action, there were all of these "walk and talk" sequences just to avoid boring exposition although sometimes you just felt they were walking in circles.
My one complaint is about the closing credits theme. The opening credits theme is great. It has gravitas. The closing credits theme sounds like it was ripped off from some 1990's children's Christmas special.
Opening theme:
Closing theme:
What's with all those tinkling bells?!?!

My take? The opening is to give the emotional impression that there are very serious and important matters to be handled by Govt
The closing is an emotional and uplifting release, light and airy as if the Establishment fairies have solved all the world's problems, Tinkerbell.

I stopped watching network television years ago.........with the exception of my last refuge, the NFL.
I have caught several older series in a marathon format recently, like Designated Survivor.........but again, the initial premise wears old for me awfully fast.
I don't get how a country that is supposed to be founded on the rights of the Individual first........and the limitations placed on Govt........ has devolved to this point.

I caught a couple of episodes when it was on, so years later, I went out and bought the box set and spent about two weeks immersed in the world of American politics. You can imagine my disappointment when I returned to reality and saw the way things really were. My one complaint is that the TV series ran for seven seasons... it should've been eight! There are many memorable moments and scenes, but I think this one is still my favourite...

I didn't have subs though so I had to rely on my high school education when I watched. I pretty much nailed it. But the best part wasn't even in Latin. It was when he called God a, "feckless thug." Sweet
