That approach also seems to have worked on an international level... Certainly, some countries seemed to approach the challenge more aggressively and effectively than others.
Wasn't Sweden more open and ahead of the curve the entire time?
Their climate and population also helped, I'm sure

Really?
OK. Teach the people "how to fish."
Right here. Right now.
Govt/Police: "Hey! You got a license to fish?"
I'll let the former Housing Secretary cover this...........
Dr. Ben Carson believes there are three things people can do to never find themselves in a state of poverty:
Carson outlined his beliefs on poverty to SiriusXM radio host and columnist Armstrong Williams.
"The Brookings Institute, which of course is a liberal think tank, did a massive study on poverty and concluded that there were three things that a person could do that would reduce the likelihood of them living in poverty to 2 percent or less. Now that should perk up everybody's ears," Carson said.
Finish high school. Get married. Wait until they're married to have children.
"That used to be pretty standard stuff in our country. It's not anymore. It's not politically correct to even talk about some of those things and that's problematic. I think poverty to a large extent is also a state of mind. You take somebody who has the right mindset, you take everything from them and put them on the street and I guarantee you in a little while they'll be right back up there. And you take somebody with the wrong mindset and you give them everything in the world and they'll work their way back down to the bottom."

I can think of several countries that did far better... at least so far.

Well, we've got 50/48 separate yet connected states to look at for results.
My opinion is it should have been handled differently from the get-go. But experts knew best.

Yes, the experts knew best, but it was the politicians that were in charge... And many of them weren't listening to the experts.

Which experts to believe, though? The ones that have been on the Govt's payroll for decades and flip-flop like a water sandal?

How about starting with those who have experience in the field of epidemiology? And perhaps, just to be on the safe side, those who are in a position which is independent of government control or influence should also be consulted... At least in the US, where there seems to be a problem with getting some people to accept or believe in science.

Science tells me that viruses have been around before and will mutate again in the future.
Science tells me that once you've had a virus and survive, anti-bodies normally protect you from that point forward.
Science tells me that a virus with a 97% survival rate is not something that threatens the entire human race or even just most people.
Just my goofy opinion......but it sure seems like science and those in positions have been ruined by Govt funding and politics. If you don't push the same agenda as Govt, there goes all the funding.
Weird and coincidental that the science says 'More Govt Control' is always the answer now.

Weird and coincidental that the science says 'More Govt Control' is always the answer now. 1. Let's hope that we can still cope with whatever their new form might be. 2. As far as we know, but we don't know what new development might spring from future mutations. 3. 3% of approximately 8 000 000 000 is not an insignificant number. 4. Government - and big business for that matter - have a bad habit of trying to change or warp scientific and technological advancements and developments to suit their own agendas.

1. And if we can't? Then that's just Nature and our shitty luck.
2. We also don't know what might develop from newer vaccines. Here in the US, late nite TV is filled with class action lawsuits for the previous Wonder Drugs' side effects.
3. It is in the Grande Scheme of things. I know I'm the prick for saying so......but there it is. The US has roughly 1% of it's population die every year. I get to hear non-stop about all of the other things killing Americans and what can be done to coerce them from doing all the things that kill them.......to no avail.
4. Absolutely. This is the biggest reason I fear and loathe Govt more than business. Until this point, I've been able to pick and choose which corporations to do business with. MY choice.

1. And we all know that shit happens. 2. It's the butterfly effect... nothing happens in isolation. 3. Yeah, the Grande Scheme is a perfectly acceptable explanation, until it actually affects you and yours... Nothing that's worth doing is easy... and there's no reason not to continue to try to preserve Human life where and when possible. 4. And what will you do if and when big business becomes the government? It already has an unhealthy influence upon it.

1. It does. Protect yourself at all times
2. ehhh, who knew over 7 Billion would become a problem?
3. Pretty much the story of everyone.Preserve all human life? So ban Planned Parenthood? Shoot drug dealers? Ban Tobacco and Alcohol? etc etc etc ? This seems to be the great argument between those of us who favor Liberty........and those who favor Security.
4. We could have sailed past that point years ago. It might explain how a systemically racist country elected a black guy POTUS twice.......because it was one heckuva marketing ploy to distract the masses.

1. I find if I just keep away from everyone else, I'll be fine. 2. The butterfly effect has always been in effect... Humans are just another ingredient in the mix. 3. I view the preservation of Humans as a general principle... you won't be able to achieve it 100% of the time. However, that doesn't mean you should gove up on the effort where appropriate or possible. 4. America still contains racism... every country does. However, progress in overcoming it has been made. After all, there's a financial benefit in increasing the number of potential customers for your business.

1. Excellent advice
2. Too true
3. I just go with the Golden Rule
4. Absolutely. But it IS better than it was in the past........despite the division promoted by some.
As I've always said......... the only color that matters is $Green........ but I can still side with any idiot that owns their own place wanting to pass on profits. Their roll of the dice is their choice.

3. The person who has the gold makes all the rules. 4. I agree. I'm of the opinion that much has been accomplished, but there is still much to do... it's a work in progress. #GreenLivesMatter.
