1. Absolutely not. I want EVERYBODY to be able to access the necessities required for a healthy and potentially prosperous life. Those programs need to be funded and that means taxes... from EVERYBODY except the poorest.
I know that you think that the poorest will just continue to suck up the freebies and never contribute and I agree that some will continue to live off the government teat. The difference is that I think that that number will get lower in the long term and I realize that those people ARE contributing to the economy, just not at the same level as others. You want to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
2. Yes, Abs. I want there to be fewer laws. But I want the remaining ones to apply equally to all citizens. I don't blame the police for enforcing the laws. I blame them for enforcing them unequally. I blame the entire justice system for that.
3. Just because many will end up as drones doesn't mean we should FORCE it upon them. If you want to be able to honestly say, "They have no one to blame but themselves," then you have to remove anything which could be construed as a barrier.
4. I expect you to do your duty and meet your responsibilities as an American citizen and as a member of the human race. Evolution requires it.
1. so a bit of bread and water.......and schooling up to the 5th-10 Grade, perhaps? There should also be a cap on those taxes, I say in the 20% range.
Why do you think that?......when it's never happened?.....and it's clearly getting worse? How about a compromise and we agree that the $amount of welfare never surpass 1/2 of what a person can make working minimum wages at McDs or someplace?
2. So do I. From poor to rich, white to black, male to female (and whatever) all laws should apply to everyone equally. If the Govt can't handle that small task, why trust them with anything else? The police don't necessarily enforce the laws........that's the prosecution, no? If the DA never pressed charges on certain crimes or for certain people.......you don't think the cops would stop bothering to arrest them? They certainly did with most Illegals in this country the last few decades.
3. Where's the force, though? You don't pay attention in school and get good grades........you don't learn the valuable lessons growing up........ you don't take advantage of all the stuff the country has to offer early on........WHO forced you to be stuck with no skills and no education? Oh, c'mon...... every once in awhile even you acknowledge that the excuse making for some of this stuff is ridiculous. We have entire education system involved in excuse making now.......and parties, too. The many success stories are always the exception to the rule?
4. I don't harm anyone directly......... I work to support my household.........and I pay my taxes.......that's about all I think you can expect from me as a human. Anything else should be a choice and considered extra, on my part.
"Mystical references to 'society' and its programs to 'help' may warm the hearts of the gullible but what it really means is putting more power in the hands of bureaucrats." -Thomas Sowell
1a. And yet in another post, you said, "food water, and shelter." We discussed waaay more foods than just bread. But as usual, you just want to punish people and make sure than none of them ever get "more" than you have.
1b. A flat tax or do you just want the rich taxed lower so that you'll be taxed lower?
1c. TBH, I've never advocated for a person to receive more than $12k a year from a BIG. Depending on the state (currently) that's a little more or a little less than half.
UHC is a different matter. Some people will need more care and others less. Are you suggesting that we put a cap on health care as well?
You also might want to remember that I'm the guy who floated the idea of the "Obligation of the Citizen": to work for 20 to 30 years in order to "pay their share."
2. I don't believe you want equity in the justice system, Abs. It's obvious with every post you make on the subject. You want punishment and I think you're quite happy that certain groups get punished more harshly than others.
3. Really? After all the times you have talked about school being "indoctrination" and now you're going to blame the students?
4a. "Directly" There's an acknowledgment of support for severe punishment if ever I heard one. And with your admission to having Covid and not wearing a mask makes the comment suspect as well. Maybe you should have added "knowingly" as well.
4b. It's good that you pay your taxes. When they go up - as they surely will - I expect you to continue paying taxes... or leave.
4c. No. It's not all that one can expect of you as a human. It's maladaptive behavior and should be stamped out. Thankfully, you have not bred and your maladaption will die with you.
5. I like Thomas Sowell, but like you he has let his hatred of one entity diminish his ability to see the larger picture.

1a. Shelter and clothing......those can be considered necessities, as well. So tents or a warehouse filled with cots and hand me down clothes okay with you? More than me? I just don't like seeing able bodied people getting anything they haven't earned. Lots of people get and have a lot more than me.....and I'm not one bit envious because they acquired it themselves. Good on them.
1b. At 20% my personal taxes might go up a percentage point or two. My wife's might come down a few more than that.I just take issue with anyone expecting anyone else to work 1 day out of every 5 for the Govt....... or more even.
1c. I think Nixon had the right idea when he just wanted to fill the gap between what a person earned and the poverty line. That way it didn't encourage staying on Welfare and it didn't punish people for making improvements in their life.
What if UHC were to end up costing the combined wealth of the Top 15% and the GDP every year? Still not something to ever place a cap on? There HAVE to be limits to Govt and it's spending and there should be a Budget they're forced to live on......like everyone else.
I liked that idea........I've suggested 'free' college' for anyone that would devote some of their time after graduation in the medical fields, too. Trading their future labor for that education seems like a smart move.
2. Nonsense. I want EVERYONE to face the same laws and punishments. And there must be punishments. Otherwise, what's the point of the laws? No punishment anymore? Then just get rid of the laws......which I've advocated for many times to no avail.
3. That's two separate arguments....... the indoctrination is apparent..........and it's been put into place instead of the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. The curriculum is the fault of the teachers union and administrations.......the failure to pick up important basic life lessons to survive as adults is the fault of the students and their parents. That's the big shame of all of this 'free' education that goes to waste.
4a. I wore a mask when it was required of me at work.......and whenever I entered a store that insisted on it. Since I don't go out all that often, it's not something my behavior or opinion should have affected anyone directly. And I still contend it was mostly a farce orchestrated by Fauci & Co. He did an even more bang-up a job as he did on AIDs. Let's keep him in place another few decades.
4b. I have no doubt they will continue to go up. At some point, I will likely have to relocate to an area with less taxes. I'm prepared to do that.
4c. That animosity is befuddling to me. I feel bad for all the crap your kids and grandkids will end up suffering thru because there are not enough people that believe as I do.
5. Larger picture? Globalist nonsense. It's clear people like Biden and Obama expect the US to sink down to the misery level of other places........all while they and their families continue to live in gated communities in the lap of luxury. And for what? Selling the US out

As long as you're driving the vehicle and doing the pick-ups and distribution.
You assume that everyone on the dole is able-bodied? I'm sure some are but I'm not going to throw out the baby with the bath water. But I'll bet tht when you see certain kinds of people in brand new, luxury cars you think the worst of them.
But you're not working for the government. You're working for your benefit and the benefit of your friends, family, and neighbors. And, just so you know: your rate would go up 8 points and your wife's would come down by 2 and the net gain to the federal government would be about $1,200
And yet poverty rose in the wake of his decisions....
The US already spends 18% of its GDP on health care without UHC. Countries with UHC spend 12% or less. Single-payer UHC would actually save money.
Free labor? Sounds like you're looking to punish again....
Which laws would you like to see abolished?
Yet now, many parents are fighting very hard for what should be included in the curriculum....
A "farce" that just happened to work everywhere it was taken seriously....
You realize, we're talking about federal taxes, right? So which country do you think you'll move to?
I'm pretty sure that fewer angry misanthropes is a good thing.
I was actually thinking about the larger picture in the sense of what it is to be human as opposed to membership within whatever tribe.
You and he are thinking about politics. I'm talking about anthropology.
