The Guardian At least 10 states divert federal welfare funding to anti-abortion clinicsJessica Glenza Fri, June 4, 2021, 5:00 AM At least 10 US states have siphoned millions of dollars from federal block grants, meant to provide aid to their neediest families, to pay for the operations of ideological anti-abortion clinics. These overwhelmingly Republican-led states used money from the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program (Tanf), better known as welfare or direct cash aid, to fund the activities of anti-abortion clinics associated with the evangelical right. The clinics work to dissuade women from obtaining abortions. Related: ‘It’s dehumanizing’: Texas valedictorian goes off script to attack abortion ban In all cases, the states used these funds even as Covid-19 caused the worst economic upheaval in nearly a century, left one in four families without enough to eat, and resulted in mass layoffs that had a disproportionate effect on low-income and racial minority Americans.
Sooooooooo.........the other 40 states divert funding into pro-abortion clinics?

if you think about it, it's a good way to insure more welfare recipients in the future. Job security.

Well, it's one way to get the economy ticking over. Years ago in Australia, they had a government drive to increase population growth. The slogan ran something like, "Have one for Mum, one for Dad and one for the treasurer..." I knew he was an ugly prick, but I didn't think he was that desperate for a root.

The GOP here in the US has been exposed for buying into this crap, too. "We need more people because whites aren't having enough babies!" FOR WHAT?? To pay for the $Trillions you're overspending?
I got news for them, it ain't ever getting paid for! So why not at least be more responsible with the human population problem?
One thing that really drives me nuts with the Bible thumpers I bump into......... they will still actually argue that the Earth has tons of room for Billions more people. WTH?

1. Just imagine what could be accomplished for the actual citizens and tax payers in the US, if they diverted one year's worth of the military budget into improving the situation for the people? 2. Now you stop that nonsense right now! You can't just go around spouting off with common sense whenever you please... 3. Make 'em watch SOYLENT GREEN... after all, it's obvious that they're suckers for a fictional story.

1. I was always one of the few 'Righties' that was all for cutting the military spending by up to 75% or more........ I just refused to allow all that savings to then be spent on Welfare. You'd think some of the Lefties would have at least given me some credit for that?
2. My common sense doesn't work for everyone.........so it should be mocked and ignored entirely.
3. The US might finally be #1 again! We've got more fat F'ers to eat than just about anyone else!

Tell me what percentage of those savings you'd allow to be spent on welfare... and I'll tell you how much credit I'll give you. 2. Common sense ain't as common as it used to be... if it ever was. 3. Yeah, but all that fat's probably unhealthy for you.

1. Provided the Debt was paid off, and then a large amount of money was set aside to pay for UHC, I'd be fine with tossing at least 10-20% of that former military spending on social programs. Also, provided that taxes on Individuals never exceed 20% on anyone at that point, as well.
2. I think it used to be slightly more common. If you had little to none........you rarely made it past 20.
3. The replacement products are even worse, though! Margarine? Bad! Olestra? Anal leakage!? I think I'll stick with butter.

1. Actually, I'd sort of included UHC in with the overall drive to improve the lives of citizens... so I think you'll get a generous helping of credit from me.
2. Well, I'm still here, despite my best efforts as a youth.
3. Finish all your vegetables and you can have ice cream with anal leakage for dessert.

1. Again...... I'm more open to the idea....... I just prefer it reasonable, sustainable and efficiently paid for. Waiting for THIS Govt to get around to it is a waste of time & energy.
2. You and me both. I wouldn't change a thing, though. Concussions are good for the soul and the best lessons often include a scar or two.
3. Thank you.

1. Based on what I've seen of American politics, waiting for any government to get around to it is a waste of time and energy. 2. I got off light in the injury department... unfortunately, I can't say the same for every single motor vehicle I've ever owned. 3. Bon Appétit.

Always a tough choice.
Continue to beat a dead horse? or divvy up it's body parts to make a profit?
Frankly I am very, very surprised the abortion argument has remained for so long. But the reasons behind the argument have shifted a bit.
