AFP Backlash against US shop selling 'yellow star' Covid badgesSat, May 29, 2021, 8:36 PM A hat shop in the US state of Tennessee was hit with backlash on Saturday, one day after promoting a yellow star patch like those worn by Jews in Nazi-era Germany, labeled "not vaccinated." It was the latest skirmish in the culture war surrounding Covid vaccination in the United States, which has suffered the highest death toll of any country in the pandemic. Iconic American hatmaker Stetson said Saturday it would no longer do business with the Nashville shop HatWRKS, which was excoriated on social media and targeted by protesters. On Friday, HatWRKS shared on its Instagram account a now-deleted photo announcing the arrival of the $5 patches. It showed a woman, reportedly the business owner, wearing a yellow Star of David with the message "not vaccinated" on her black T-shirt. "Your Nazi star badges are perhaps the most offensive, anti-Semitic thing I've ever seen," one user posted on the business's Facebook page, summing up the social media outcry in response to the post, while others used the hashtag #HATEWORKS.
Except they're NOT anti-Semitic

How do you figure?
Jews having to wear yellow badges as an identifier goes back to the 12th century.
The "Star of David" design as a symbol of Jewishness goes back even further.
The message "not vaccinated" on the symbol reinforces the notion of Jews being "diseased."
Now, I'm guessing that the brain trust that came up with the idea will try to say that they are showing "solidarity": being different isn't a reason to be excluded, but it's really a daft way of doing it and was obviously going to get negative press.
But maybe that was the idea? Get a bunch of bad press and watch the money overflow in the till?

FFS, what were these idiots thinking? The fact this idea comes from a hat shop is rather appropriate, considering they're a bunch of fucking asshats.

Because they're the ones wearing the dang stars.........they're saying "Holy shit! WE are the people now being treated like Jews in the early days of Nazi Germany."
So in effect, it's the intolerant people giving the stink eye to them that are the Nazis in this case.

Like you said.......the same way the media drives the narrative. I just disagree.
It was wrong to alienate the Jews.........and it's wrong to alienate people for not buying into this particular vaccine. If you've gotten it, why would you even be afraid?
Weird yet again........ the formerly "MY body, my choice" types are all for dictating to others?

Except the "my body, my choice" types aren't affecting their neighbors with their choice.
On the plus side, all the folks who don't get vaccinated are probably only going to kill each other eventually.
Good riddance to bad rubbish?

Really? Have you forgotten all about property taxes, schooling costs, welfare, etc etc?
See? There's a silver lining if you just know where to look.
And all the people who do get vaccinated are going to die, as well.

1. Abortions cause rises in property taxes? Wow.
2. But probably not from Covid and not any time soon... barring the unforeseeable.

1. How much does Planned Parenthood receive every year in tax dollars? 1/2 $Billion/year at last check. Wow. Seems like tax payers end up paying for it somehow. Whether it's an abortion.........or a child that needs public assistance.
2. Unforeseeable? Like being mortal?

1. Ahh! PP. Your favorite demon. I'm guessing that they actually get very little of your tax dollar compared with our military that can't win a war against civilians in robes or our education system that churns out thousands of kids a year who can't even read their diplomas. But that's always you, isn't? Baby and bathwater.
2. I do believe I said, "any time soon" thus, referencing mortality.

1. So the military spending......another discussion entirely....... is the defense for planned parenthood's windfall? And I'm more than happy to argue about the sheer waste within the 'Investment' that the education system has received over the past few decades. We agree on the shame of 'graduates' not being able to sign their own names in cursive....... yet not the best approach to solving that.
2. We're all here for just a blink anyway.

2. But I'd like to enjoy my blink and I want everyone else to enjoy their blink as well. If I didn't, I'm sure I'd just go out and become a serial killer or mass murderer (AKA Covid spreader).

1. I seem to have noticed that the big things rarely ever get addressed as long as people are allowed to throw in the 'What about....." in regards to smaller things. FYI: Dave Ramsey hails the best approach for most Americans is to make a list of all their debts largest to smallest..........and then pay off the small bills first while paying the rest. Once a small bill is eliminated, then use that former small payment to pay more on the larger debt until all debt is remedied.
2. I do, too. Make the most of your blink should be everyone's motto. I'm finally the mass murderer I've always aspired to be?

Also, I don't know who Dave Ramsey is, but I'd gladly do it his way as long as he promises to pay my mortgage and car loan while I worry about those pesky credit cards.
That was just a snarky comment. I'm completely debt free. I'm guessing that you left out a few things in your simple explanation but I don't really care as it has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
2. Good on ya.
