That's actually a pretty good definition... not new at all... but apt.
The truth is that you "free riders" are the problem: whether it's your sister, the "welfare queen" (as you intimated) or you anti-maskers hoping herd immunity will save the day.
The HIT (Herd Immunity Threshold) for Covid-19 is 60 to 75%. That's estimated because no place has yet to develop herd immunity yet. Therefore, it makes sense to shoot higher rather than lower or in the middle.
Think of it this way: You know those plastic Easter eggs that open up and have a prize inside?
Imagine you're standing on a football field covered with 5,000 of them. Inside ONE is a certified check for $10,000,000. You have 5 minutes to find it.
Do you walk around the field trying to suss out which egg it is or do you scoop up as many eggs as possible in 5 minutes?
You shoot high and hope for the best.
Not Abbey though. Abbey assumes the game is a scam: there's no check and someone is just trying to trick him into cleaning up the football field.
Right?

No day needs saving, imo
After the early predictions of millions of dead in the US alone, it's now just being used as a tool to oppress. Fauci is now blaming systemic racism for some of the problems.

N. Dakota has had 143,341 cases per million of population. New York has only had less than 110,000.
That's actually twice the infection rate of New York and they have a population density 1/40th of NY.
Florida has an infection rate of 11% to NY's 7%
Texas is 10% to NY's 7%
California's infection rate is 9.5%. A solid third of those cases were in LA County that has a population density 210 times that of the entire state of North Dakota. And guess what? Their infection rate was still only 12.6%... still lower than the entire state of N Dak.
It's not about voting. It's about following the rules.
