HuffPost 'WTF Is Wrong With You?': NRA Trashed For Tasteless Meme After Mass ShootingEd Mazza·Overnight Editor, HuffPost Sun, May 9, 2021, 11:41 PM Seven people were killed on Sunday in Colorado Springs, the year’s 194th mass shooting, according to the nonprofit group Gun Violence Archive. The wave of violence that’s rocked the nation has led to new calls for gun control measures. But on Sunday ― Mother’s Day ― the National Rifle Association posted a meme suggesting that mothers arm their young daughters. “MAMA DIDN’T RAISE A VICTIM” read the text over an image of a woman and a young girl with their firearms. Both the NRA’s message and its timing came under heavy fire on Twitter:
NRA @nra · May 9, 2021 Happy Mother’s Day to all NRA moms!
On top of the millions of other jobs moms have, NRA moms fight for our right to self-defense, while also defending themselves, their families, and communities.
We are forever grateful for these fierce women.

Dear Ed & Martina, instead of trying to shout down others with differing views on guns in general, why not look into the sheer number of women, many of them mothers, who get killed by their spouse/mate and may have been saved had they armed themselves?

Didn't someone on IMDb used to have a sig something like: "Gun control: the notion that a 110 lb. woman can take on a 220 lb. attacker all by herself"?

That does sound familiar.
And I find that the departure point for many a movie these days. Strong independent female in the lead role.........gets into a fight with large muscular man.........and lands several blows........then she's thrown against a wall and tagged right on the button.........shakes it off and continues to duke it out for several more minutes?
Unless she's wonder woman? or somehow her character has been imbued with some super powers, that fight is long over. And I'd say that with a typical male dwarfed in size by his athletic opponent that has a 50-100 pounds weight advantage landing stunning impacts on their skull.

I'm a dude - and I've been in a scrap or two - and even I'm not stupid enough to go toe-to-toe with someone like Dwayne Johnson unless I'm armed.

I'd have to look, but I'm betting CO already has more mass shooting than even "Florida Man" could accomplish.

Well, I seem to recall that CO has recently become one of the most 'migrated to' states in the US.
It's a similar humorous situation here on a much smaller level. Our soon to be retiring Chief of Police bragged that crime was down here........ yet most of us above the age of 40 don't recall this present level of shootings and stabbing ever in the past?

The "migration" thing might be an issue... except for the fact that most of the mass shootings were perpetrated by white people.

Change is hard for some people.
