Beat the robins and a catbird to some of the first of the season and more should be ripe in the morning ! Best part is seeing how expensive they are in the stores and how much $$$$ is saved by growing yer own. Reward for the evenings picking was:

Those are beautiful berries. You grew them yourself? Grow them yep but those are Google images ... mine are not quite as photogenic. Have four rows of Lathams and a section of yellow raspberries that fruit in early summer and produce a second crop in the fall. The yellow ones have an apricotty taste to them. Have never see them in the stores. Probably because they are very delicate and don't ship or keep well at all.

Growing up, there was a vacant lot near us that was full of brush, but also blackberry bushes. We’d spend so many days going getting thorny cuts all over picking blackberries. Can’t believe none of us were ever bit by snakes, lol.

Blackberries grow (grew*) wild on Staten Island in NYC. As a kid, me and my dad, we would take the ferry over there and then a couple of busses to the berry patch. Made jam ...MMMMMmmmmm !
Biggest problem, other than the thorns, was poison ivy !
* probably a housing development is now where they were !
