So, I am struggling to find a drink that is light but not too light. I have been known to drink straight shots of vodka and gin, but I can get a bit carried away and end up not drunk, but too woozy for my liking. I can only do a little wine - red has tannins, which can trigger a migraine headache, and white has nitrites and nitrates, with the same unfortunate outcome. I really soured on beer during my college days, because I was a teetotaler, but my boyfriend was into beer, a lot of it, with consequences that made me hate the smell of beer. I will drink Corona with lime, but I need a bit more alcohol than that. Gin & tonic with lime is an old favorite, as are Margaritas and Bloody Mary's, but I had hoped to find something that I could mix with good old ginger ale. Amaretto is wonderful, but if I have it around the house, I am tempted to drink it straight, and it's a bit pricey for that. I have once had the pleasure of Absinthe, some years ago, but I know that stuff is seriously pricey. If I ever win the lottery, I think I will chase the green fairy! I do know that gin can be mixed with ginger ale, and I may start there. I will miss the taste of the tonic water, but it, too, has gone up in price. Maybe with a bit of grated fresh ginger in it, I could pass it off as a health drink! Maybe a shot of vodka in green tea - another 'healthy' drink? Any suggestions? ant-mac, mr_self, spitfire926f and anyone else here!

Lately my favorite has been a splash of grapefruit juice mixed with grapefruit bubbly (or la croix... or any flavored sparkling water) and grapefruit flavored vodka. It's light and refreshing.

That does sound good! There are several flavors of Clearly Canadian sparkling water, that might be just the thing! There is a peach flavored vodka, New Amsterdam, I think, and a peach flavored sparkling water... I think I'll try that first.

So, I tried that, and the sparkling water didn't have enough flavor or sparkle, so I switched to ginger ale and a splash of peach/white grape juice. That was pretty good!

Tastes pretty similar to me (I think Jager tastes somewhat better-been a while now though) from what I can remember ie licorice What about mixing something with some wholesome root beer, if you have a taste for that? Also I remember one girl back in my uni days always used to mix pineapple juice with vodka I think. However, there may have been more than one reason for that heeheehee Coconut water? There are probably loads of suggestions on the wider web anyhow

You cant go wrong with lime in general I think. Have it with a Corona beer or dark rum (not spiced) and coke myself
