but I do care about pollution.
Let me be clear: the temperatures are rising and human beings are part of the problem. However, I'm not convinced that the end result is going to be "catastrophic" or even undesirable as it pertains to world populations.
Let me unpack that....
I don't think that sea levels are going to wipe out coastal cities to the point where we have to move the capital of the US to Denver or some hyperbolic bullshit like that. That's just scare tactics.
But if it does happen, billions of people are going to die... and for decades the same people who hugged the nearest tree also told us that overpopulation was a HUGE problem, well... problem solved.
Humanity has been through "climate change" before - almost to the point of extinction - and if those migrating bands of "uncivilized" brutes can make it, then I'm pretty sure that modern humanity can do the same. We NEED an impetus to evolve. Let future archeologists catalog what we've lost the same way current archeologists talk about ancient Mesopotamian civilizations.
"But the poor will be disproportionately affected..." say the people whose interaction with the poor is to drop a coin or two in a cup if they can't completely avoid them.
Let me tell you: if the oceans suddenly cover 80% of the world rather than the current 70%, the economy is going to look a whole lot different anyway. Stop worrying about the poor as if you actually care because we know you don't. Chances are, that the remaining population is going to have a whole new view about survival.
That said, I'm all for renewable energy. I'm all for using public transportation. I'm all for keeping our streets and oceans clean... and so on. I probably have an extremely tiny "carbon footprint"... as long as you don't include my Covid weight-gain.
Renewable energy just makes sense because fossil fuels are finite.
Taking public transportation just makes sense because of traffic jams that make us late for work.
Throwing litter in a wastebasket instead of on the street of in the ocean just makes sense because we need clean water to drink and we need fish without plastic in their bodies to eat.
"But landfills...!"
Yeah. We need to find better ways to turn waste into energy or at least remember to reduce, re-use, recycle, repurpose.
If reducing pollution for the purpose of making YOUR life better - which it will - also aids with the whole "Climate Change Crisis" then it's win-win. Maybe if we all do our part then we won't have to be subject to "carbon taxes" or any of the other "make some money off the middle and lower classes" bullshit.
Think of it this way: When you bus your own table at a fast food restaurant, it reduces the costs associated with serving you the food in the first place,

Those are all great points.........which would lead to many dismissing your views for not being on the bandwagon.
They'd rather stick with the lies and BS, than be real and realistic. People

I am with the good professor on this:
In my opinion I think we should look after nature around us. And work of science - better, cleaner but also effective and cheap solutions.

Peterson's an interesting character, but he's right on about just dealing with what we can control and things do tend to shake out for the best.

I've found it a bit interesting and suspicious that population control seems to have disappeared from the discussion.
Jordan Peterson strikes me as a fella that's too bright for most regular people......and his caring about them has led him into a deep depression as they attempt to ridicule and harangue him into obscurity.

And he wants to lift people out of poverty and educate them. That can't be good for anyone who has and wants to maintain power.

Neither of the Big 2 wants an educated populace.

Now that they've got their fence up (fences don't work, remember?) around their ivory towers, they're feeling bolder than ever before.

I remember that my "wall" idea was met with scorn by "the right" for suggesting that the workers be given English and Civics classes so that they could pass the naturalization test.
"The left" just hated it because there was still a wall.

I foresee even tighter security around 'gated communities'

I'd prefer they were a bit more vivified........but they've been groomed into obedience
