As the title says. Trump won Iowa in an unprecedented landslide. It was like nothing ever seen before in an Iowa Caucus. Meanwhile, Biden has no game whatsoever. I don't think he's even campaigning? We're going to end up with this clown and his circus of dullards for another four years. And unlike MAGA, I don't make-up fairytales about election cheating to lie to myself about why Americans vote as they do. If we vote this idiot in, we deserve the country it will create.

Unfortunately, there is a majority of clowns to vote for the same clown. I agree we are screwed if TFG is elected, but short of voting ourselves, which we all will do, how do we make a difference? MAGAts can't be reasoned with. In the realm of fantasy, we could drug the water supply in every red state, or release a germ in redneck bars, I suppose, but we each only have one vote. What do we do in reality to change the outcome?

And TBH, he doesn't scare me as much as his idiot supporters. What scares me most about Trump is how toxic he is to the political landscape. He makes extremists on both sides just more extreme, and critical thinking goes out the window.

I knew when they started indicting him he'd just use it to snow-ball back into re-election. Before that, no one was talking about him and his poll numbers were in the dumper. But there is no bad press for Trump. He's just a political martyr now, and making money off his mugshot FFS. Covid really screwed things. All a lot of people know is that in 2019 the economy was good, and now it sucks. They don't understand the finer details and how Biden isn't fully responsible. I feel it too. In 2019 I was finally comfortable. My years of experience gave me a wage that outpaced cost-of-living. That's gone now, as well as 24-hour grocery stores! I can't just stop at the store after work now! Life in general is a bigger PIA. But I don't think Trump is a magician that can fix it.

The divisiveness he engenders will be another nail in the coffin of the democratic republic we used to live in. A friend of mine pointed out that when Nixon was exposed, everyone was appropriately shocked and disgusted, and they got rid of him in record time. Now, Trump is being seen as some twisted sort of savior, which he most assuredly isn't. Have the American people slid that far into... ignorance? Lack of reasoning ability? What is going on in their heads?

It’s all so depressing to think about.
My very best friend in the world is a conservative. She knows I’m more liberal. So we don’t talk about politics and it works for us. Well Friday she brought up politics and mentioned that liked Haley. I told her I wish more people would stand behind Haley. Both Biden and Trump are too old and Trump has so many flaws, but I don’t see Haley winning over Trump no matter what. We didn’t talk more than that about politics, but it did give me a glimmer of hope…

What is going on in their heads? All of this ☝️, Spot on. The thing is, Trump is not stupid. He's an ignoramus, but he can play a room like a fiddle. My father had that same ability. His marks want to be liked by him. Look at Mike Lindell. He's put himself in the poor house chasing election fraud that doesn't exist (and I maintain that Lindell is a good person. He hires former addicts/convicts for his company and will pay for drug rehabilitation out of his pocket for employees. He's about second chances). Trump has let him do this on his own dime, while he, himself, has raked in millions from his marks. And Lindell has pretty much destroyed his business over Trump lies and bullshit. Trump is a dark triad IMO, and we've become a country that gets all its info from Twitter and Facebook. It's a match made in hell.

We didn’t talk more than that about politics, but it did give me a glimmer of hope… It used to be you could debate politics with friends and family, even if you were on opposite sides of the aisle. It didn't end relationships. The polarization of the country will be its ruin. I have people I love that fall all over the political spectrum. That's life, no one lives in an echo-chamber, unless they are willing to cut people out of your life, even important people. It also used to be you could live with the "the other guy" winning. It might not be what you wanted, you might bitch, but it wasn't treated like the end of the country. This was when our politicians were more serious people, though.

And it fills me with dread for the next four years.
