I wanna do a dog sled tour

One of my coworkers was showing me the dog sled tour she did in Alaska. It's totally on my bucket list, especially after watching Togo on Disney Plus. I guess there is a place right here in PA! I don't even have to go all the  way to Alaska.

I would be in HEAVEN! 

Our tours operate with or without snow every Saturday and Sunday from December 23, 2023, until February 25, 2024. The adventure without snow never disappoints our guests who come to learn about the huskies, get covered in fur, slobbered with kisses, and ride along the stunning Delaware River while the huskies pretend they are pulling you through the snow. They get excited, howl, jump, and run to entertain you no matter the weather. When it does snow and the course is sufficiently covered, we are permitted to use the snow sleds.

This adventure provides you with a taste of what dog sledding is like. Arrive on time for your tour and spend an hour exclusively with some extraordinary huskies who are ready to entertain you. Without snow, the experience is riding along on our comfortable UTVs with the Huskies. When we have snow you are invited to stand on the back of the sled and have complete control of the Huskies. We are there to guide you and ensure you and the huskies are comfortable and safe. Each guest takes a turn riding on the back of the sled. Younger children may ride in the basket of the sled while adults are the drivers (mushers)

You must really like dogs to fully appreciate our tour. You should be quick on your feet, able to get in and out of a UTV, on and off a sled, and be able to push the sled if required. You need to listen and comprehend the instructions and follow directions from our guides. All guests must be 10 years old without exception. If you have any health concerns at all please do not consider the tour. The maximum weight for the huskies to pull is 300 pounds.

Also, trailer for Togo. I highly recommend this, it's about a real dog hero. And Willem Dafoe is amazing.

Well that looks like a great idea, spitfire926f, I hope you get to do it! It would be doggy heaven!

Many years ago, my husband and I owned two Golden Retrievers that we bred just once. My Dad came down to check those puppies out, they were on the back porch getting some sun, and when Dad showed up, they flocked to him! Soon, he was sitting on the porch, up against a wall, COVERED in Golden puppies licking his face! I took a photo; it's one of my best memories of my Dad in his happy place!

Some years back, a friend of mine married a guy who had a Husky. He was a wonderful, sweet dog!

I went to a local dog sled race competition one year.

Apparently there are two types of huskies that race.

One type yips and yaps and barks and dances around itching to get hitched up and get into the race.

The other type gets hitched up and just lies down as if to say "wake me when it's time for the race to start <<yawn>> !"

It was COLD but a fun day ! Haven't seen any ads for it except for that one time. I would love to go again.

I would love that! Where did you see it? I've toyed around with the idea of going to Alaska eventually. $100K a year and $40K sign on bonus. My Shepsky would probably love it.

It was held at one of the Local Tribal Casinos in Wisconsin.

I need to check and see if they are still being held ... it depends on there being snow and so probably not this year as there is still no snow other than the artificial stuff on the ski hills.
Unless there are blizzards before the end of the year, '23 is out for most snow sports.
Last few years, even  the snowmobile trails have been open very limited periods of time so that may have affected the dog races as well.
