Remembering good people who have died and whose loss is still felt on the forums whether their names are ever mentioned or not.
Remembering too, those lost in the demise of IMDb who never made it to other boards either because they did not know where to go and how to get there, or because they were avoiding particular trolls who they saw had made the move ahead of them.
Remembering those lost to the whims and caprices of John Carter both before and after his New Owner April Fools Joke.
Too many names to mention that won't mean anything to anyone else anyway.

I remember one, from old IMDb, then V2 - Sulla. He was a gentleman and a scholar, and his signature was that live music is always better. He passed away about 2 years ago, and I miss him. The one long-term friend he had from the old days was Marv. who has stopped posting altogether, unless he has a new name. He was a good poster, too.

I had him in mind when I posted this thread. I was looking for a picture like his avatar but could not find quite the right one ! Sophisticated cats reading books do not abound on google image search. From the Original IMDb, I miss a fella who called himself Raymond Chandler. He was a sweet lonely soul who loved movies and mystery books. He was caught up in, and could no longer deal with, a vicious trolling scam and eventually gave up trying to communicate publicly on line and then quit the internet completely when IMDb folded.

I loved Sulla's avatar, he told me that it was from a calendar by an artist that worked in that style and were all images of cats. I, too, have image searched like crazy and have yet to find it. I thought that once something is on the internet, it is there forever... I didn't know Raymond Chandler from original IMDb, I was really focused on certain TV shows and a few movies. I liked that each movie had its own board, and there were multiple threads. But there were a few nice posters, one that I kept in touch with, via email; sadly, she died about a year or so later.

Thank you so much for transferring that over here! It is much appreciated, and I think our guest will like it, too!

Two posters on V1 still had access to V2 and they copied/pasted and linked me to it. ant-mac, good admin and friend, transferred it over here for me so I could have it archived in case V2 goes down. I never could find it on any image search, which is weird. I've always been told that once something is on the internet, it is there forever. I searched and endless combination of words, covering every possible base, I thought. But thankfully two nice folks on V1 came to the rescue!

Another V2 poster who was fun, and has been lost, used as his avatar a picture of Joe E Brown but I cannot recall his screen name. He used to post "Cliff Notes" in the long threads that went on for pages and pages saying nothing. He did not post a lot, but, when he did, what he said was clever and on point !

The trouble with being online is that between posters having multiple accounts, or constantly changing their user name or avatar, it can become quite difficult to keep track of who is who...

Rumor had it that the Joe E Brown fella left when someone doxxed him. I think he always had the same name and image.

I know that doxxing is a serious problem and that doxxers are generally frowned upon and reviled online, but I remember a time when all you had to do to find out where someone lived was pick up a phone book. If someone wants to send me pizzas I didn't order, good luck to them... I'd love to live somewhere that pizzas are home delivered to. I expect I'm probably missing the point, but I keep forgetting all the reasons why it's bad.

There was an odd name that I remember - Terrapin Station - an oddball poster, I could never figure out quite what he was all about. Oh, and thefleetsin, the gay guy who wrote poetry. I think he just got bored because hardly anyone liked his stuff.

I think he had a bit of an unhealthy opinion about children... although I couldn't swear to it.

I think he had a bit of an unhealthy opinion about children... although I couldn't swear to it. He was a strong advocate of what he called "child love" ! Even aside from that, he was generally creepy and obnoxious. Early on, we butted heads about, of all things, his insisting that Manhattan was part of New Jersey ! In retrospect, perhaps he was trolling and I took the bait ?
