The poster was Lux, malcontent nutter but that crossed a line IMO. The response from the admin was just as disappointing so easy choice in the end. I don’t think anyone else picked up on it otherwise a few would have called him out on it I’m sure. I have a strong sense of right and wrong and it was wrong on multiple fronts. I’ll check in here and hope the place picks up a bit. glad you are here and didn't disappear. I always enjoyed your posts. I have not been going to v1 for a while, I'm sorry that Lux was an ass to you. I've never interacted with him, he just always seems negative. This place is pretty quiet, but after all the drama on the other board, I can do without all the angst. Maybe tomorrow, I will start a thread here of general interest; I'll see what occurs to me in the interim. Lux is an ass so I half expect him to cross lines, he’s done it before. The admin has mentioned several times that V1 is his “living room” and if he allows that type of behaviour In his living room I don’t want to be there. A temporary ban would have been appropriate IMO. I've never crossed a line - not worth it to me - but a few days ago, I disagreed with Lux on something and he told me to be careful or he'd report me for attacking him, a violation of board rules. I'm thinking a lot of colorful hibiscus Pick away, I am always in the mood to talk about gardens, either vegetables or flowers! I always go a little nuts at the local nursery every spring. The nursery is one huge greenhouse, and they have just about anything one could want. It's an immersive experience - a friend and I go together, and she usually gets even more than I do. Fortunately, she has an SUV, and we can pack it to the brim. I can't wait for spring... this warm spell is just a taste, and I can't wait for the real thing. |

I'll probably keep some potted plants and statues, maybe. Oh, how lovely! You should think about it, just small scale to get started, and then add as you go! You might start with potted plants, since you have dogs - I have a small, fenced area that the dogs can't get into, plus hanging pots and larger ceramic pots. In my backyard, I have limitations, because I have a walnut tree, and one of its chemical compounds restricts what will grow within 50 feet. So stuff that can go in the ground are hostas, ferns and ivy. That will be my focus this year, I think. |

Oh, spitfire926f , I just thought about white for a while, and looked out my window at what I call my woodland niche - I have blooming 'drops of snow', an early spring bulb that my Dad transplanted from the land he grew up on to my garden years ago. They are so delicate, and they always remind me of him and my grandmother. They do need to be in the ground, but amazingly, my dogs never bother them. I will try to attach a photo from online, I can't do my own, I never figured that out, lol!  And this would be so pretty in a garden, I think this one can be found on Amazon...  And this is the one that is in my woodland niche...  |

Oh, DON'T get me started on Hawaii! It is one of my favorite places on Earth! Hibiscus, plumeria (the scent!) and orchids! I love color, too, and I take photos of my friend's flowers, she has more sun than I do, and she has every color there is in her garden! She gets some New Guinea impatiens that darn near glow hot pink. Once while in Hawaii, I went on a tour of orchid farms on Maui and Kauai. It was amazing, and I saw specimens from all over the world. Those naughty dogs! But they are worth the trouble. My friend grows her hibiscus in pots and they do quite well. She has dogs, too - a Great Dane and a Chihuahua. From one extreme to the other! My heart just broke when the fire ripped through Lahaina; I've been there, and sat under that amazing banyan tree. I don't know if it survived. I know that the locals were doing as much as they could to make that happen. |

There are a bunch of flowers that are deer-resistant; I know I've seen articles. And you need some containers for flowers, deer usually leave those alone. And there are things that you can spray on, environmentally friendly but discourage deer. My yard is my escape from the world. |

Yeah, that is bad behavior for someone's 'living room', sadly. And there have been more than a few other things in threads that would have been appropriate for a boys' locker room. I'm no fan of JC, but I thought FM would be a bit more proper and responsive when looking at offensive content. Additionally, there is such an overabundance of just plain nonsense, parody threads, unintelligent back-and-forth ad hominem exchanges and such... it is difficult to find anything of value, wading through all of the other stuff. I sometimes just scroll through recent posts just to see if there is anything I care to engage with. It's gotten to be more of a supermarket tabloid rag than a proper newspaper or magazine. I actually posted my frustration on the open board once, and FM actually responded and said that if I posted a topic, to tag him and he would happily interact with me. I did that, and he never even responded. If we could get a few more of the better posters to come over here, this could become a genuine discussion board. Fingers crossed... I don’t think it’s a coincidence that some of the more reasonable and moderate posters have either stopped posting or post less often than previously. JC did keep the board clean for the most part and reigned in the majority of the nonsense and poor behaviour, FM doesn’t appear to have the will or backbone to do the same so the board has devolved and will likely continue on that path. He really doesnt. Thats why both, Shady and I were at odds with him over his moderation consistency in the past. Right from the start it was a major red flag when he perma-banned Arvid. I didnt always interact with the guy but I did enjoy his takes on topics apart fom Israel. Now Xel and Warren are gone too. Warren fine he has been banned previously quite a few times on other boards (he does that shit to himself) but Xel too..c'mon now..I cant look the other way when it comes to those two posters-especially when for the whole time JC was fine with Xel and Arvid for all those years and Im no fan of JC and didnt need perma-banning Im actually mulling over whether I should stay over there or not. It would be good if Abbey or Kinder started a board. |

I don’t have to worry about deer, but raccoons and possums and skunks. 🦨 was walking my dog super early one morning, before dawn, and he wanted to sniff around some bushes at a neighbors house so I let him. Little did I know there was a little skunk family in there. When I realized it, I pulled my dog away and started hauling ass down the road and the skunk started chasing us. We didn’t get sprayed, thank goodness. |

It was a lengthy climate change article I think. I was thinking of responding but sometimes I cant be bothered reading long-form ha (could even be the case with Monkeys). You can have live discussions, most people who run forums won't ban you and make the rules clear. You can actually have debates on the Go. Forums are dying out. Most people wanna hate me, reality is, you all know the community is toxic. Did Warren and xel deserved to be banned? A massive list of people deserved it. Monkeys is also sort of a creeper. Reminds me of that lonely island song "the creep." He can't moderate, the next issue is, even if Abbey or kinder created a board, most won't go. They'll stay on v1. That's the reality. People can hate me all day, please do actually, but Monkeys modding is so inconsistent it's insane If you all ever want to go to a board, gameboy would be your only option. |
