Ugh, what a night I had. I had to put a patient into locked seclusion and I had an admission AND I had a staff member almost walk off the job. The kid got pulled to our unit from another floor and was like "you need two people on each wing, this is crazy" and then walked off the floor. He ended up coming back, but it was very WTF. That's the most challenging part of this job, not the patients, the lack of staff and consistent staff. I was also the only nurse last night because the other night nurse is off on medical.
I have all this tension in my neck and shoulders. I took my muscle relaxer and am on my heating pad, but I wish I could afford massage therapy. My little meatball is snuggled up next to me. Some soothing music will help.

I have all this tension in my neck and shoulders. I took my muscle relaxer and am on my heating pad, but I wish I could afford massage therapy. My little meatball is snuggled up next to me. Some soothing music will help. Excellent choice of music! I've been a fan since my college days. Music helps, and another of my go-to things is hand-stitching, as in quilting or stitching without a machine. Crochet, sometimes, anything that is repetitive and quiet. And I can take it anywhere - I prefer small fiber art pieces than full size quilting or knitting a sweater. Watching old DVDs that I've seen many times before, and find to be comforting, like a child that wants to hear a bedtime story book over and over again. Last night I needed my cat who does "cat" scans; I curl up and he curls up next to my heart and lets me hug him like a teddy bear. I had had a very disturbing day. I also needed a .5 alprazolam (I have a prescription) and a 20-minute session of meditation, too. That "idyllic places" thread is also an escape; the great out-of-doors from the comfort of your home. Life can be so stressful, even when you are doing a job that helps others. I also journal when I get really rough... and then put the journal away and my mind can let go of it for a while. I wish I could afford a therapist, at times... back when I was sick myself, then caregiving for a dying husband, I had a great therapist that kept my head from exploding. She retired some time back, and my insurance doesn't cover that kind of care. Most therapists now do out-of-pocket only, since dealing with the insurance companies takes up so much time and paperwork.

One of the things that relaxes me is crocheting. One of the girls at work is getting married in October and they are trying to get pregnant now. I told her I was going to make a rainbow baby blanket and she loved that idea. So I want to surprise her by making a rainbow and white blanket for her and her partner as a wedding gift. I just adore this girl, she's a very salt of the earth person, so I'd like to make something really nice. Which yarn would you go with? I like the bright colors because it would really pop with the white, but the more pastel color might be more wedding-blanket-ish? I think either work for a baby blanket. gardengirl1953,

I have mixed color preferences; sometimes deep and rich, sometimes pastel, so color is up to you! Have fun; stitching, knitting, and crocheting are my go-to feel-good relaxation activities. I can actually crochet lace in the Bleeding-Heart pattern. Hard, but worth the effort for me. But I'm a little bit nuts and obsessive/compulsive. There are tons of ideas for baby crochet blanket patterns on the web; Pinterest is a good place to start. I quilt, too; less traditional, more art quilt/thread painting, but I am working on one traditional quilt. The range of fabric colors and designs are stunning and, just sayin', addictive. Proceed with caution, lol!

And I only make scarves and blankets, I haven't graduated to anything more complicated, although I'd like to make a sweater, lol.

Smoking enough weed that pee coming out of my dickhole feels good. Highly recommended.
