I received this email earlier today concerning Jon Collins, the admin and creator of HUMAN VOICES,
He suffered from stage 4 lung cancer, plus various other medical issues that, while serious in their own right, ultimately proved to be unimportant by comparison.
He was acerbic, aggressive, argumentative, articulate, compassionate, educated, generous, intelligent, knowledgeable, opinionated... and many things besides. He didn't suffer fools gladly.
Through personal experience, I learned that his friendship was both unique and unparalleled and I shall miss him. He was my mate.
Requiescat in pace et in amore.
This is the song he wanted to go out to...

He was smart in both the book sense and the worldly way. If you got into a debate with him you had better know what you were talking about on your end. His principles weren't determined by partisan rhetoric. He was a critical thinker, an endangered species in our knee-jerk culture of feelings over fact.
He was funny and witty and a great friend and company in this online world. I'll miss him. RIP, friend, we're less without you.

RIP sir.
He was rather unique around this world. No pigeon holing him, came at things with principles. Brave fight through his illness. Godspeed man.

I posted this earlier in another thread ...have been playing the Wilbury Song off and on and thinking of EQ and of PorkPie and their positive legacy on these boards and how they probably were off line ... their music conversations with other musicians (like for instance tommy) were worth the price of admission and the aggravation of the rest of the board.
"Am so grateful for having "met" this guy .... he has made me laugh, I have applauded his dealing with fools and now he has made me cry .. which would infuriate him no end but there it is. It is refreshing to see positive interactions even among those not in political lock step and that has been accomplished here under his leadership.
He will certainly be missed !"
