apnews.com/article/missing-child-florida-mother-slain-8f68aed8c61ee57b41678bcf10eb0193This is the second story I've read about FL man throwing a kid to the gators. At least, that's what seems to be implied here? WTAF. The last story was a guy pissed at his ex-girlfriend so he kidnapped her six-year-old and threw her in a gator marsh. It sounds like the kid belonged to this guy.. All I know is I hope he died before the gator got to him. I hope "dad" showed him at least that much. I have mixed feelings on the death penalty, but in some instances, why not have a "let God decide" clause like insurance has for "acts of God"? Of you feed your kid to the gators, we'll drop you off in the middle of a gator swamp. If you make it back to land alive, life in prison. If you don't make it back, well, "God decided" then. And you provide a good meal for a hungry gator. Win/win.

The little kids seem to be the back breaker for many on the fence. (But they must be born first, amiright?)
I saw this piece, as well. It shows me how often people (mostly men) insist on inflicting as much hurt and damage onto others when they feel they're at their end.
The common thread I see thru it all? Is the fundamental inability of people to get along and behave like grown adults.

This goes beyond the ability to behave like an adult. In the other story the little girl was found with a fractured skull and a missing arm. The gators ate her alive. Imagine the terror she experienced in her last moments. They commuted his death sentence to life in prison. Three hots, a cot, and cable TV for the rest of his life on tax payer dime. I like my idea better. Let the gators decide. Alligator ally, at night, like when you dumped her. You make it back, you get your life in prison. Prometheus, how do the Chinese deal with such things, men who feed children to wild animals? I'm just curious.

I consider it the primary responsibility of someone claiming to be an adult.........to put their children first and foremost. Ahead of their own comfort even.

He's a murdering POS. If we were talking about a guy who walked out on his responsibility to his kid, then that would be that conversation. He killed the mother, and it sounds like then threw his own two-year-old son to alligators...we're talking about someone that barely qualifies as human, never-mind adult.

I don't know that I've heard of it happening but it would probably be a short trial and a quick execution.

He is so very missed. Humans have been doing hideous stuff to other humans and animals as long as there have been humans, sadly. Our larger brains don't seem to be heavy on compassion. I guess we need to do more evolving, and I wonder if our species will survive long enough for that to happen. Our country's system of justice has gotten so complicated and protracted that actual justice doesn't seem to be the goal, it's about all the attorneys making money. So few attorneys seem to be principled, nowadays. Speedy trials never seem to happen, except maybe on episodes of "Law & Order".

When I first read the story about the little girl, it really haunted me. It still does. I can't imagine finding a toddler in the jaws of a gator and knowing a family member put him there. Stories like this make me think that apocalyptic asteroid is late.
