Many positions of employment require certain educational qualifications, specific personal attributes and traits, or provable previous experience... So I'm constantly surprised - and disappointed - by the fact that just about anyone can get elected to a position of authority and power with a little more than luck and a few lies. Perhaps it's time to introduce a few mandatory pre-requisites that must be met before someone can run for public office... at least at a state or federal level.

But that breaks from the notion of government being "of the people."
I simply support bringing civics classes back to schools... and make passing them mandatory for advancement to the next grade.

1. Nothing wrong with that... And nothing wrong with those people putting in a bit of effort and preparation first. 2. I think that might count as the "certain educational qualifications" I mentioned above. They don't have to be brain scientists or rocket surgeons...

Not really, he was an ass. Wasted a few years trying to change him, realized it wasn't happening, and moved onto the next ass. It took years for me to stop being naive and trusting. Now I am no longer naive and trusting with anyone, and ESPECIALLY politicians; reality teaches us lessons we probably couldn't have comprehended in a high school class.

Unfortunately, you have to kiss a lot of frogs - or toads - before you meet your handsome prince. Youth is wasted on the young... imagine what we could achieve with it, now that we've learned from - hopefully - at least a few of our mistakes.

Yeah, if we could go back in time, knowing what we know now... I wonder how much our choices would change where we are at this age. Fun to speculate. Edit: Actually, I think frogs are kinda cute, toads not so much. I hope my tree frog is semi-hibernating well, and is around for this coming spring and summer.

When I lived in Rockhampton, in Queensland in the 1970s, you were never far away from cane toads or tree frogs. In fact, it was not uncommon to shower with half-a-dozen little green companions...

Awww! Too cute! But he is Australian; does he want to kill me? I'm remembering that meme with a cute little furry thing in someone's hand, something about this little guy wants to kill you, but he can't!

And Bamm Bamm, our Toy Pomeranian, never had any trouble with the cane toads when he went out to do his business. They used to sit about in groups under the spotlight and were at least as big as Bamm Bamm was.

Only Pepé Le Pew, on Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. And as far as I remember, killing wasn't his defining trait.

He was a classic! I'd imagine he's now been cancelled for being problematic or toxic or something... I think that all of those old cartoons are still available somewhere on the web, but being the Luddite that I am, I have never looked. I remember all those great old animated cartoons, including the Tasmanian Devil!

You kinda have to buy older Dvds or find uncensored data on the web.
And Ant is correct........... a female stand up I saw recently used that line "Pepe is problematic!" in her best fake Valley Girl voice
