That was one of Freddie Prinze's more famous jokes-that each wave came in & got the crappy jobs like cleaning toilets. But it doesn't matter. People like my mother-in-law still spout that "Italians are like that" prejudices. Or Mexicans. Or Native Americans. Whoever. I remember a thing I saw on something like Entertainment Tonight about a class reunion from the class of 1930 or some such. One of the comments was about the number of gals who dropped out of school because they got pregnant Abstinence has never worked as birth control. So, yeah, the girl goes off to stay with a relative, has the baby & comes back. Baby stays with the relative. Or maybe gets brought up as a siblings never knowing sis is actually mom. |

Ummm, well that's pretty much what you'll find in any area primarily one group of people........and then a sprinkling of others. And we know it flows in all directions.
Yep, people still screwed even back then. The big difference being there was no pride in it (unmarried pregnancies) and families often sent their daughters away until AFTER the kid was born. Wouldn't you agree that society hasn't necessarily improved itself by shifting the way we have in this regard?
It's worked if it's followed. But I agree expecting people to keep their pants on is often asking too much.
And now we have no shame whatsoever and the grandparents burdened like never before while the parent feels really no obligation to be a parent.

More often than not it is drugs making grandparents raise their grandkids. At least amongst my clients. |

You are the one wants to decriminalize drugs. That will make it better when everything is over the counter. I get allergies. Used to get Flonase for like $5 on a prescription. Ever priced that stuff now it's over the counter? $30-$40? Sure hurts Big Pharma when stuff gets "legalized" |

I'm against all big faceless corporations ripping people off. I recognise their product can be good while hating the price gouging, can't I? Insulin is a necessary product. Costs practically nothing to make. It's that idea it has value in saving a person's life so the company selling it can charge 5 arms & 2 legs for it that is insanely wrong. So somehow making all drugs legal would make it so users if street drugs could afford them? These guys who have no money because they have no jobs? Wouldn't they just be shoplifting them from shelves? Or you for universal income or whatever that idea is? People don't steal cars? Cars are available for sale. How does legalization of drugs allow for everyone to access them? Flonase, all those stomach pills for acid reflux my husband for for $5 prescriptions that one has to pay 3-4 times that. Remember prescriptions are for 100 pills. You able to get 100 pills of anything for $5? Hell, vitamins tend to run more than $5 Don't most drug companies LIKE when their pills are not prescription exclusive so they can sell them to the masses who take double the prescribed amount or more? Hell's bells, dude. Why do they put meds behind the counter? All those allergy pills people steal to make their meth? Or the whole cough syrup crap? When my kid worked at Vons, they had to keep an eye out for people drinking the cough syrup in the store for the alcohol/drug combo to get high. In fact, most food doesn't get those tags that set off the anti-theft sensors. It's mostly the meds with the strips. Be nice if more people were taught not to use drugs or alcohol to escape reality. The problems don't vanish. They are still there when one gets sober Back to the big pharmacy thing. They seem to be affording them now. UBI is just another large scale welfare program. It'll only lead to more Inflation. That means YOUR money doesn't go as far.

The biggest reason to legalize drugs is to stop the majority of the reason for the gangs/gun violence. That's supposedly WHY you wanna pass ever more gun laws.
