6,000 children killed, hurt by gunfire in 2022: Report
More than 6,000 children have been killed or injured in the U.S. by gunfire in 2022, the most ever recorded in the nine-year history of a nonprofit that tracks shooting incidents.
More than double the 2014 toll » ===============================================
I'll go read the article now........ I'm betting it won't mention how many of the children are gang related gun users.

BILL HUTCHINSON and AHMAD HEMINGWAY Mon, December 26, 2022 at 3:44 PM CST More than 6,000 children have been killed or injured in the United States by gunfire in 2022, the most ever recorded in the nine-year history of a nonprofit that tracks shooting incidents. With five days to go in the year, the Gun Violence Archive found that 6,023 U.S. children 17 years old or younger have been killed or hurt in gunfire this year, surpassing the 5,708 killed or hurt 2021. MORE: America has a gun violence problem. What do we do about it? The Gun Violence Archive said it was the most children to die or be injured by gunfire in a single year since it started keeping track in 2014. At least 306 children 11 years old or younger have been killed by gunfire in 2022, according to the website. Another 1,323 children between the ages of 12 and 17 died in shootings, according to the website. In the first year the Gun Violence Archive began to track shootings in 2014, it recorded 2,859 children 17 years old or younger killed or injured by gunfire. The grim statistics come after a 3-year-old girl in Kansas City, Missouri, was killed on Christmas Eve in what police suspect was an accidental shooting, Kansas City ABC affiliate KMBC reported. The child shooting deaths in 2022 also include 19 students, all 11 years old or younger, killed in a mass shooting on May 24 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. One of the youngest victims killed by gunfire this year was 5-month-old Cecilia Thomas, who was shot in the head while sitting in a car in Chicago during a June 24 drive-by shooting. www.yahoo.com/gma/more-6-000-children-killed-214448420.html
Now WHY did they have to bring up the name of THAT particular city again? Per capita it's about as safe as anywhere else, right?

The statistics have been pretty clear for decades. The vast majority of these shootings involve gangs and/or drugs. Nothing has really changed.

A Challenge to All Readers regarding gun control:
For many years I’ve offered the following challenge. So far, I’ve yet to receive a rational response.
The 1968 Federal Gun Control Act, prompted by the shooting of JFK, prohibited mail order gun purchase & expanded by the Brady Bill in requiring registration by States, of handguns & background checks. Subsequently, over 20,000 Fed. State & Local restrictive gun laws were passed. Despite this, we’ve seen steady increase, per capita, in gun violence. However, prior 1968, anyone could buy guns; no registration required, no questions asked. I bought a so called “assault rifle” at age 11 & a pistol at 13; both via mail order catalogue. But, despite absence of any of today’s restrictive gun laws, there were fewer gun related crimes per capita then than subsequent to 1968. Logic would dictate that 20,000 restrictive gun laws would have significant impact, thus reducing gun violence. But the reverse is true.
Can anyone explain this anomaly? Won’t hold my breath for a Rational response.
