It's going great! or maybe this is part of the long term plan, too?
The Week Studies show surge in child homicides in 2020 Theara Coleman, Staff writer Tue, December 20, 2022 at 11:05 AM CST March for Life rally
Scientists behind two recent studies reported that the rates of homicides of children rose significantly in 2020, The New York Times reports. The rate of children injured by guns also increased as the COVID-19 pandemic spread.
The first study, published in JAMA Pediatrics, highlighted the trends in homicide rates for juveniles aged 0-17. Researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that the rate of children killed in the U.S. increased by about 28 percent in 2020 from 2.2 per 100,000 in 2019 to 2.8 per 100,000 in 2020. Black children and children in the southern United States make up the majority of the homicides, and most of the children are brought to hospitals with gun injuries. The data also revealed that homicide is the leading cause of death for American children.
In an editorial accompanying their research, the study's authors said the data highlighted an alarming public health concern "warranting immediate attention." The team said that child homicides are becoming "more common, not less," despite being "fundamentally preventable." The rate of child homicides has been slowly rising since 2013, a decade-long trend that spiked in the first year of the pandemic. In 2020 2,058 children aged 17 and younger were homicide victims, up from 1,611 in 2019.
JAMA Pediatrics also published a research letter by pediatric surgeons at the University of Utah School of Medicine. The study compared the number of children admitted to pediatric hospitals in the period leading up to the pandemic to the period starting in April 2020 as the pandemic reached its peak. They found that the number of children seeking treatment for gun injuries increased to 2,759 after April 2020, up from 1,815 during the first period, more than a 50 percent increase.

But guns make people safer!
wow, I think my point was the MORE the Govt has taken over parenting........and all the social programs that come along with that........the worse things have gotten.
But it's somehow the gun's fault still? Very weird
I look at them as inanimate objects. I feel they are useful tools.........unlike the many, many..........far too many social workers that have been failing for decades.

But the article states the increase was gun deaths. So adults not securing weapons? Blame Canada? Remember a decade or so back this was common in japan-teens attacking homeless. We had it as well, didn't we?

The article is a piece of propaganda trying to place the blame on guns. That Canadian piece just shows you guns are not even necessary all the time.
Your gun policies have failed. Your gun free zones have only made softer targets. But keep pressing forward until you get to the total ban that you've been claiming all along was never the intention.

Like the laws against murder or theft or anything else has STOPPED ALL CRIME. So gun laws work as well as any law, don't they?

Exactly my point. We don't need 1001 laws against murder. The first one should have been sufficient.
Again, exactly my point. But the politicians feel they need to look busy and appear as if they've accomplished something real when they haven't.

Do people normally put disassembled gun parts in plastic & hide them in jars of peanut butter?

Why are they trying to defy the rules to SMUGGLE LOADED guns onto planes? Those stats are likely thru November as December isn't over so almost 600 guns PER MONTH? So they could just add PB to the list of banned product. Trust your PB to the mail system Or smuggle fentanyl in PB.

I thought I posted that new record gun seizures at the airport recently? Crazy, right? Are they testing the security? Just THAT f'n stupid? Unaware that x-rays go thru peanut butter and see metal guns?
There are rules that can be followed to transport a gun. But do you remember me posting a video a long time ago about the TSA stealing a woman's gun? The thievery that goes on in airports is crazy, too.
And you wonder why, when it comes to both guns or drugs, I feel we've got more than enough laws.........they just suck at enforcing them.

Dude, there's the sheer numbers angle. There are always more people trying to break the law than enforce it. Look at you at the self checkout.

That's true...........but there are plenty of other crimes with far less odds of getting caught in the act, imo It's a X-Ray machine.
I know that they know........and they know that I know that they know. But as I've said, if the corporate mentality these days is to not even stop outright thieves.......why would they hassle a paying customer that continues to shop for other things?

merh , I'm too lazy to read. Has abbey1227 , actually explained how "gun violence = gov't raising kids" yet? He believes schools are raising children, not parents. Therefore children have no morals because somehow the government is indoctrination them to be soulless monsters. He also believes government controls businesses so all those businesses collection our data for themselves to sell to others is being collected at the government's request. But all this is his belief.
