The Courier Journa l A hoax most cruel: How a caller duped McDonald's managers into strip-searching a workerAndrew Wolfson, Louisville Courier Journal Wed, December 14, 2022 at 7:24 AM
I remember this one well. Just a sign of things to come.

Just another form of swatting?
It's just s misdemeanor in many locations so not all that bad, is it?
Just a prank.
Notice the guy they arrested was a cop wannabe?
Like George Zimmerman?

Things to come?
It has been happening for a while.
Why is it suddenly on your mind, now?

I think it's a good sign of just how easily people can be manipulated.
Who is more silly in your opinion? The manager that takes the call and acts on it? or the employee/student that submits to it? And don't just use the excuse of age.

We fill people's heads with the notion that authority (particularly the police) must be listened to and their instructions followed to the letter or you just might get arrested or shot... for good reason: "He didn't comply!"
I thought that's what you law and order types loved: quick compliance or an excuse to execute.

It's sad these people thought they were helping law enforcement. Most law enforcement I know isn't going to ask people to do stuff like that. I had a guy they wanted to arrest. They were positive he was sophisticated, but no, he was crazy. No way he did any mastermind crime. But the extent was me calling him into the office for an appointment so they could arrest him.

How does anyone not know that they have rights? Even IF it were a cop standing there. You do have rights. Police do not conduct searches and such over the phone using non-police personnel. You don't have to speak to them and you can insist they actually arrest you before any kind of search proceeds.
See? They didn't ask you to frisk him or tackle him and throw on the cuffs.

Schools can't afford to provide a civics course but somehow teachers find time to interject sex, sexuality, race, etc. in just about every class....
