Real ID requirement deadline extended again after COVID setbacksNation Dec 6, 2022 2:44 PM EST The deadline for obtaining the Real ID needed to board a domestic flight has been pushed back again, with the Department of Homeland Security citing the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic for the slower-than-expected rollout. WATCH: President Biden vows to modernize aging, outdated U.S. airports The deadline to have a Real ID had been May 3, 2023, but DHS announced Monday that it was pushed back two years, to May 7, 2025. “This extension will give states needed time to ensure their residents can obtain a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas said in a news release. “DHS will also use this time to implement innovations to make the process more efficient and accessible. We will continue to ensure that the American public can travel safely.”
About as impressive as Border Security and PBS combined

states rights? The right to bend the knee to the Feds?
And they started 'complying' in 2012?
So a whole decade and they're still lagging? Sounds about right for Govt at all levels

Sounds like Abs got school - AGAIN - and is now getting all Ray Bolger about it. Conflict overload. Does he care more about freedom or the border? He seems to think the Real ID will fight undocumented workers from entering the US. This seems to be the issue I know this is an issue in law enforcement as some states refuse to share records. In my former employment I would need to read rap sheets & certain states didn't surrender that info because they didn't agree with our privacy rules. I'm thinking that's also the issue here.

It's gotta be the English language. I keep posting my opinions and beliefs..........and somehow you keep garbling them up with others notions.
Freedoms are most important for US citizens WITHIN the borders of the US. They don't apply to US citizens traveling elsewhere (Right, Ms. Griner?) And they certainly shouldn't apply to any border hoppers and Illegals we've got in the US.
The Real ID? It's a joke and half. Ity'll end up being a costly boondoggle, a bigger hassle for US citizens than anyone else......and Illegals will likely be given a version, as well. Just like when they handed out Drivers Licenses and IDs.
And you've STILL got how many various police. border patrol, immigration, federal agencies not sharing info in any real and cooperative way. This won't change anytime soon.

So you are pissed Real ID was passed in the middle of all that 9/11 patriotic ferver? Or that states are dragging their feet on it?? Illegals couldn't get real ID. Real ID required a birth certificate

Florida was one that refused to share criminal records on the rap sheet as I recall. Maybe NY. Couple other states. Which is how criminals can get away with stuff-we don't know everything they did because of petty pissy fights between states.

But if we demand a stronger centralized control from the federal government we are called "commies."
But that's only by idiots who don't understand what communism is... <gives a meaningful look in the general direction of Wisconsin...>
