Sexual Politics in China is weird
Women, generally, will only go out with guys who can "provide security." Read: has a house, car, and a job that can pay for that plus everything else the woman wants.
Men, generally, want a woman to cook, clean, fuck, and rear the kids... and take the beating (or verbal abuse) they "deserve" when they fail in anyone of those areas.
Feminism in China can be seen as a rejection of the male demands, but it's also a reaction to the fact that there simply aren't enough men out there with enough money to make them endure those demands. A Chinese woman will put up with a LOT as long as she can access the bank account to buy some Prada.
If Mr. Xi can revitalize the economy and get men making more money again, the "feminism" will slip away.

I remember watching quite a few Asians basically raiding the Coach store in Vegas whenever my wife made me tag along on her shopping escapades.
Make China Great Again? No worries. It appears that's all that's on the minds of many within the US Establishment.

1. They do love their shopping
2. I never said any such thing. Stop putting words in my mouth.
2.a. There would be no need to appease China on any front of Trump had actually known what he was doing.
Remember when all the Trumpanzees were crowing about the extra $600 his tax cuts had netted them?
Unfortunately, his tariffs cost those same people about $1,000.
I'm guessing that you went to public school, so let me help you out: that's a $400 net LOSS, when TPP would have given the country a net gain (reduce the deficit/debt) and provided some containment of China's economic influence.
You people need to stop knee-jerking and herpaderping through life and start using that lump on top of your shoulders for something other than regurgitating Fox News' idiocy du jour.

1. Many people do........ I just thought it was fun to watch so many small people burdened with their arms full of 'bargains?'. It reminded me of the scene from Moscow on the Hudson when Soviet era Russians were visiting NYC and grabbing blue jeans by the bushel.
2. You know I'm not really doing that, nor do I believe that's what you'd say.
2.a. For all of the people, including the Chinese that were getting pissed off at Trump....... I think it's clear he was doing the right thing for the US finally.
$600 actually cost $1,000? That seems like an excellent deal compared with the latest stimulus of $1,400 that's going to end up costing tax payers $14,000.
Hey, me Bucko! Public schools are fallible.
I'm wondering why, instead of perpetuating the Cold War to this day........we didn't offer to make Russia the most preferred nation instead of China? Not enough poor to exploit? Especially after the wall fell.

1. Or toilet paper... which never happened in China
2. Don't say nuttin', won't be nuttin'
3. Is that $14,000 going to cost them this year or over time? Trump hurt the country financially with his weak "war." That's why you need stimulus checks.
4. I know they're fallible. That's pretty much why I assumed you went to one as there seem to be huge gaps in your knowledge and critical thinking skills
5. Western nations were already in bed with China long before the wall fell and cheap labor was - of course - a primary concern. However, it should have been obvious to anyone that the infusion of investment into China was going to help them become an economic foe in the future, but businessmen saw dollars rolling into their corporate and private accounts and politicians saw dollars rolling into their campaign funds.
You also have to remember that in the aftermath of the breakup of the Soviet Union there were civil wars, multiple coups, general civil unrest everywhere east of the "Iron Curtain. Why partner with any of those nations or Russia itself when it was a fucking mess? China was stable and looked like the proverbial money tree.
You also have to note that there were several western businesses that failed in China as well. Home Depot is a notable failure. They never learned the culture before moving in. The Chinese are NOT the kind of people that do "DIY" so it crashed and burned. Feel free to have a gander at my China series on the "Geography" board.

1. TP is one of the few luxury items that I refuse to be chintsy on. It's just not worth it.
2. How're we supposed to do that perpetual guy thing, though? Dork
3. Doesn't matter.....it'll never get paid back anyway. The next stimulus should be $1,000,000/person. Why not? And I didn't need any help from the Govt. I cashed it, but I didn't need it.
4. Even my lack of knowledge in certain areas, lack of critical thinking and race theories and being bereft of what dey call dee social skillz....... I still somehow manage to get by better than most of my fellow Americans. So I'm OK with that.
5. Russia has been relatively stable for over 20 years, No? If it weren't for blatant and obvious liars in DC, like Schiff, this ridiculous game the MIC keeps playing would be over by now. It's not like almost everyone else over on that side of the pond doesn't just do business with them anyway.

1. I buy what I like. Thankfully, in China, there was never a run on the supermarkets to buy up all the stock.
2. Ass
3. Probably not. That's why worrying about it is a bit foolish.
4. Good on ya!" but "doing better" doesn't mean anyone should listen to you. It's not like you work in Hollywood....
5. Now it has been, but (as I said) we already had 20 more years experience working with China AND the "stability" in Russia has mostly come at the hands of a dictator oppressing, repressing, and suppressing his people.
"But China..."
Stop. You might not like this response but here goes: Russia is oppressing, repressing, and suppressing white people. China is oppressing, repressing, and suppressing "yellow" people. The US will bring down the hammer on any country treating white people badly or (somewhat reluctantly) on a country treating black or brown people badly, but our wars (military and trade) in Asia have strictly been about maintaining access to cheap goods and labor under the pretext of "fighting communism."
There's more to that, but I have to get ready for work soon.

2. Thank you!
3. I'm not really worried, just giving my opinion on the best policies to go with for future success.
4. Good one. Hollywood seems like the last place people should be looking to for sound and reasonable advice.
5. Your response is perfectly fine. I don't mind it. I don't really approve of holding down white or yellow or red or black or whatever people. I'm just marveling at the different treatment being dished out by our Establishment. It seems awfully inconsistent. Are you forgetting how South Africa got pummeled decades ago? The shoe seems to really be on the other foot there now.
I sit stunned by the mention of 'fighting communism' outside the US.........while the education system and culture within the US has been completely infected by it. Did you catch any of the recent comments by US representatives picked by Biden explaining to the world how awful and racist the US is? UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield ........and one other woman with glasses who was appointed to some 'inclusivity and diversity' position?
Have fun at work.

Of course it's inconsistent. The make-up of the government (dominant faction) can change every two years.
As for the two women, they are "the apology team."

Apologies? For what? Being the same or better than most other places on the planet?
I see them more as the latest "We dare you to oppose us or we'll just call you racist' team.

Apologize for whatever other people think the US needs to apologize for, of course. Non-white, non-binary, non-cisgendered people were treated as absolute equals in every country around the world until the USA came along, dontcha know.
That's what I mean by "The Apology Team."
Did you know that there are currently a number of suits against European countries (from former and current holdings) for their part in slavery? Neither did I until I looked it up. And not a single penny has been paid by any of the former "colonial powers" as of yet and it doesn't look like they ever will. Their responses all boil down to, "Slavery was and is horrible and we'll continue to fight it" but not a single word of apology for their part in it.
But, when you look at the headlines, the only country that ever gets "top-billing" for slavery is the US.
If you look at incarceration rates for most white-majority countries you'll find that there are more blacks (and other minorities) in jails than whites. But no one seems to talk about those countries in the news. Just America.
If you look at the immigration laws of those super-rich, super-happy, super-socialist, super-white countries that everyone on the "left" raves about, you'd know how much more open the US is. But our immigration policies are the only ones in the news.
As an aside: a couple of those super-rich, super-happy, super-socialist, super-white countries that everyone on the "left" raves about are a couple of the exceptions, mostly because they don't allow too many minorities in and they do their level best to make sure that the ones they do let in are already wealthy enough to not need to resort to crime to make ends meet. They've even made sure they have to take in the fewest "refugees" from the Middle East.
And you know what those countries do when immigrants can't or won't assimilate? They kick them the fuck out. If the US tries to be even the slightest bit selective, the ire of the world crashes down on us.
That's not to say that our immigration policies and apparatus are perfect. They aren't, but why are we always at the bottom of the media and "public opinion" dog-pile?
I guess it's just easier to pick on the fat kid....

you're banging on all cylinders tonite in my completely objective opinion.
One of the realizations I came to about 'Great Britain' in regards to being so much better than the US on the whole abolishing slavery mantra.........they were just smart enough to outsource their slavery! Out of sight, out of mind. And don't they feel superior for it?
On a somewhat negative flipside, I perused a piece today that had the absolute audacity to compare Emmett Till to Daunte Wright. Jesus, these people have no shame........
