MoneyWise 'You freakin' idiots': Dave Ramsey just blasted US universities for promoting online gambling to students — and reaping millions in fees. Why young people are the perfect preySerah Louis Sun, December 4, 2022 at 8:00 AM Sports betting is surging across America — with flashy ads and easily accessible apps encouraging wagers both at home and in stadiums — and has slinked its way over to several college campuses as well. The New York Times recently uncovered that at least eight universities have partnered with online sports-betting companies, while at least a dozen athletic departments and booster clubs have signed agreements with brick-and-mortar casinos. Personal finance author and radio host Dave Ramsey lambasted the institutions on The Ramsey Show. “You freakin’ idiots … Selling out your own students who you’re supposed to be caring for,” said Ramsey. “The No. 2 addiction in North America today — and fastest growing addiction in North America today — is online gambling. It starts with the sports betting as a gateway drug.” The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) says researchers estimate about three-quarters of college students gambled in the past year, and 6% have a gambling problem.

Capitalism is all about freedom of choice. So there's nobody to blame if you voluntarily take up bad habits.
Compared to collectivism which is entirely mandatory.
I thought you were pro-choice? Or is that only for women getting funding thru PP?

The 1% sure does love to make money without providing any real goods or services in this country. Remember the old days when we mostly just made things that people wanted?

So Vegas could be the ONLY spot for abortions, too? That'd put a new spin on the old "What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas." line
Special treatment for Indians.......and discrimination against others? Don't you feel it's very inconsistent?

That was before we drove much of the manufacturing overseas.
Just taking after the Brits and exporting our slavery, apparently

Just taking after the Brits and exporting our slavery, apparently Yet another example of a money grab that transfers large sums of money from the middle to the rich. It’s the American way apparently.

You post an article where one of your favorites bitches about sports gambling, yet bitch about California voters voting it down. Make up your mind, dude Prop 1 passed. Yes 7,154,604 66.9% No 3,540,491 33.1% Kern, Tulare & Kings Counties in the middle of the state voted it down. Madera & Amador in the north inland as well. Yuba, Sutter, Colusa, Glenn, Tehama, Shasta, Modoc, & Lassen voted no by around 10% (54%-45%) The other 45 counties voted to pass it.

I post things I may not agree with........you somehow miss that? I just think it's funny. Most times aren't I usually on the side of freedom of choice? As long as you're paying for it, why should I care either way?
So lemme guess: the term 'the right to' now means the taxpayers get to foot the bill for it all? I keep wondering when the right to bear arms will receive similar funding for US citizens. (I know we fund the arming of all sorts of others people/nations)

So you prefer all those babies be born so taxpayers can pay welfare for them for 18 yrs? No problem. And no. Taxpayers don't pay for every damned abortion & you know it. My insurance plan offers abortions. So abortions are paid for whoever pays the monthly damned premiums.

No ,dear........... like so many others these days you are STARTING from the assumption point that I even agree with the welfare being handed out to begin with. I am not.
I'm not responsible for your baby......whether you kill it.......or keep it. Leave me and everyone else out of it, and there won't be a problem.
Taxpayers fund PP........and you know it.
I got NO PROBLEM with an insurance policy paying for abortion. But yet again, please don't include that other POS program called the ACA where millions of people aren't paying ANYTHING. Total scam on the actual taxpayers. It turns my stomach every time I see another of their TV commercials bragging about $0/premiums

You worry so much about what others might be getting. I used Planned Parenthood. I will never consider it a bad thing. If we had universal Healthcare the ACA would go away

What others might be getting AT TAX PAYERS EXPENSE. There's a difference. You're awfully worried about the profits some others make.
So instead of partial welfare, you want total welfare......got it

totally disagree.
We have more than most in the past have had.........and are we more productive? Not really. If anything, we've gotten worse.
