New buyer finds former homeowner dead in basement: police Published: Dec. 02, 2022, 7:33 a.m. by Molly Walsh | mwalsh@cleveland.com
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio – A former owner of an Ohio home was found dead in the basement Tuesday by the person who recently purchased the property, police say.
Mike Thomas, a spokesman for Cleveland Heights, said police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 2700 block of Noble Road on Tuesday morning for a report of a dead body.
Thomas said the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 71-year-old Nina Fielden. He said there were no signs of trauma.
Fielden is listed as the property owner on the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Officer’s website, but the person who found her body recently purchased the home through a sheriff’s sale.
Thomas said the new owner told detectives he had visited the site to check on the property and found Fielden in the basement.
Cleveland Heights police said the investigation is ongoing.

I feel like somebody in real estate didn't do their job there.

Not the Sheriff's Dept?
Likely a foreclosure sale due to unpaid taxes..........because somebody died and nobody noticed

That's what I figured. Seen as an abandoned property We had a guy in Clairemont Mesa kill himself over being turned down by a co-worker. Paid all his bills in advance, canceled all services, covered the windows with foil & starved himself to death. After a year or so a realtor went out to inspect for repo sale & found the mummified remains. (Our air tends to dry things out. Like oranges often turn into dried out little balls rather than disgusting moldy balls.)

Kinda weird that NOBODY bothered to go thru the place before the sale..........but I suppose if it were like the era of the housing crisis where the banks had too much on their hands, just get it sold and gone quickly, right?
And what a sad and pathetic end to a human life, huh?
